Thursday night’s NFL Honors, which awarded the game’s best players for the 2024 season and those who are affiliated with the sport or are fans, a chance to show out.

This brings us to former New England Patriots and current North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick, who definitely showed out when he brought his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, to the awards show.

Usually, that wouldn’t be a talking point, except the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach is 72 years old, and on this night, the jokes wrote themselves on social media and during the show.

Host Snoop Dogg got in on the fun during his opening monologue and roasted Belichick in good fun, and for good measure, the Dallas Cowboys caught some strays as well.

‘I’ve been a football fan for a long, long time,’ Snoop said. ‘I remember back when the Cowboys was good. I remember back when the Chiefs was bad. And I remember — what was it? Bill Belichick’s girlfriend wasn’t even born yet.’

For Belichick and Hudson, it was smiles all around after the joke, proving Belichick can be a good sport when he wants to be.

An arrest has been made in connection with the death of a sports reporter while in New Orleans to cover Super Bowl 59.

Kenner, Louisiana, police say that they have arrested Danette Colbert, of nearby Slidell, after Adan Manzano was found unresponsive in his Kenner Comfort Suites hotel room.

According to authorities, Colbert was using a credit card belonging to Manzano at several shops in the New Orleans area. Colbert was also seen on video at the hotel showing her with Manzano on Wednesday and leaving the room alone later in the morning.

Colbert has not been charged with his death but was booked on property crimes, including fraud and theft-related offenses.

Police said that Colbert has been arrested before and accused of drugging men, stealing cash, fraudulent use of credit and debit cards, and other financial-related crimes.

NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.

During a press conference detailing the arrest, Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley said there are at least two other cases of Colbert drugging men and stealing property, including one in Nevada, and a search warrant was executed at Colbert’s house, where they found Manzano’s credit card and cell phone, along with drugs and a stolen gun, which Conley said is doubtful that it is related to this case.

Colbert was arrested in New Orleans Thursday night and is still in custody. Conley said depending on the coroner’s findings and the ongoing investigation, more charges could be pending.

‘She is definitely a career criminal,’ Conley said of Colbert. ‘Everyone should be aware of their surroundings. It’s a major concern, so it’s something that people need to be aware of.’

Manzano worked for Tico Sports and Telemundo Kansas City (KGKC), who described him as a ‘true professional and rising star who exemplified excellence in his work.’

‘We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sports, and the contributions he made to the local community,’ the TV station said. ‘Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.’

‘Adan was a talented and professional broadcaster, providing sideline coverage for the Kansas City Chiefs Spanish broadcast and play by play caller for the KC Current. He was an enthusiastic and energetic team player who was well liked and respected,’ Tico Sports said in a statement.

‘Adan was a devoted father to his young daughter, a helpful colleague, and loyal friend. He will be greatly missed by our TICO Family and will live on in our hearts and memories.’

Researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have been told to remove words frequently associated with progressive gender ideology from research manuscripts that they intend to publish.

A screenshot of a leaked internal email sent out to CDC staff, obtained by the newsletter Inside Medicine, showed a list of terms and phrases that must be removed from scientific manuscripts produced by the agency’s researchers and intended for publication.

Those terms included: ‘gender,’ ‘transgender,’ ‘pregnant person,’ ‘pregnant people,’ ‘LGBT,’ ‘transsexual,’ ‘non-binary,’ ‘nonbinary,’ ‘assigned male at birth,’ ‘assigned female at birth,’ ‘biologically male’ and ‘biologically female.’ According to the Washington Post, the list includes about 20 terms. They indicated that the directive also ordered the removal of any use of ‘they/them.’

The rule affects manuscripts under review, as well as those accepted but not yet published, no matter whether they are intended for internal circulation only or circulation outside the CDC.

A CDC spokesperson told Fox News Digital that ‘All changes to HHS and HHS division websites/manuscripts are in accordance with President Trump’s January 20 Executive Orders.’

After taking office last month, President Donald Trump signed a slew of Day One executive orders, including one that attempts to root out ‘gender ideology extremism’ and restore ‘biological truth’ to the federal government. Meanwhile, in line with that order, the Trump administration’s Office of Personnel Management issued a memo a little over a week later calling on all federal agencies to ‘take prompt actions to end all agency programs that use taxpayer money to promote or reflect gender ideology.’

In addition to the terms, CDC web pages titled ‘Supporting LGBTQ+ Youth | Adolescent and School Health’ and ‘April 18 is National Transgender HIV Testing Day’ have also been removed.

The removal of the terms may make it hard to read surveys and research that utilizes them as demographic identifiers, The Post reported.

‘If you are trying to optimize society, you can’t just pretend some people aren’t in it,’ executive director of the National LGBTQI+ Cancer Network, Scout, who legally goes by only one name, told The Post.

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor criticized the Court’s 2024 presidential immunity case in her first public appearance since the start of the second Trump term, saying it places the Court’s legitimacy on the line.

Sotomayor made the comments during an appearance in Louisville, Kentucky, during which she was asked a range of questions, including the public’s perception of the high court, according to the Associated Press. Sotomayor’s comments are her first in public since President Donald Trump took office last month.

‘If we as a court go so much further ahead of people, our legitimacy is going to be questioned,’ Sotomayor said during the Louisville event. ‘I think the immunity case is one of those situations. I don’t think that Americans have accepted that anyone should be above the law in America. Our equality as people was the foundation of our society and of our Constitution.’

In a 6-3 decision in July 2024, the Supreme Court ruled in Trump v. United States that a former president has substantial immunity from prosecution for official acts committed while in office, but not for unofficial acts.

The case stemmed from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s federal election interference case in which he charged Trump with conspiracy to defraud the U.S.; conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding; obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding; and conspiracy against rights.

Sotomayor notably wrote the dissent, joined by Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson, saying the decision ‘makes a mockery of the principle, foundational to our Constitution and system of Government, that no man is above the law.’

‘Never in the history of our Republic has a President had reason to believe that he would be immune from criminal prosecution if he used the trappings of his office to violate the criminal law,’ the dissent continued. ‘Moving forward, however, all former Presidents will be cloaked in such immunity. If the occupant of that office misuses official power for personal gain, the criminal law that the rest of us must abide will not provide a backstop. With fear for our democracy, I dissent.’

During her Louisville appearance, Sotomayor shared that she ‘had a hard time with the immunity case,’ saying the Constitution contains provisions ‘not exempting the president from criminal activity after an impeachment.’

Sotomayor warned that if the Court were to continue down the same path, the Court’s legitimacy would ultimately be at risk.

‘And if we continue going in directions that the public is going to find hard to understand, we’re placing the court at risk,’ Sotomayor said.

When asked for comment, a White House spokesperson told Fox News Digital, ‘This historic 6-3 ruling speaks for itself.’

The justice suggested that one way to resolve the public’s distrust in the Court would be to slow down in overturning precedent. The Court has, in recent years, overturned various landmark decisions, including Roe v. Wade in 2022, and striking down affirmative action in college admissions in 2023 and the Chevron doctrine in 2024.

‘I think that creates instability in the society, in people’s perception of law and people’s perception of whether we’re doing things because of legal analysis or because of partisan views,’ Sotomayor said. ‘Whether those views are accurate or not, I don’t accuse my colleagues of being partisan.’

Sotomayor made similar comments in 2023, saying she had a ‘a sense of despair’ about the Court’s direction following the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, which overturned Roe. Sotomayor did not name the case specifically.

However, the justice said she did not have the luxury to dwell on those feelings.

‘It’s not an option to fall into despair,’ Sotomayor said. ‘I have to get up and keep fighting.’

While the major equity averages are certainty up year-to-date, we’re detecting a growing number of signs of leadership rotation.  As the Magnificent 7 stocks have begun to falter, and charts like Apple Inc (AAPL) taking on a less-than-magnificent luster in February, we’ve identified ten key stocks and ETFs for mindful investors to monitor in the coming weeks.

VanEck Vectors Semiconductor ETF (SMH)

To be honest, the 2024 bull market was dominated by the AI theme, and the AI theme is dominated by semiconductors.  At least, that was the prevailing narrative until news of Deepseek AI from China brought that entire thesis into question.  From a technical perspective, semiconductors last made a new all-time high in July 2024, and in recent months has settled into a consolidation phase.

We can see the SMH rotating between support around $235 and resistance near $260, creating a rectangular consolidation period on the chart.  The moving averages are almost completely flat, and the RSI has an almost perfectly neutral rating at 50.  That is the definition of a sideways chart, from top to bottom.

The key with a consolidation phase is to either use swing trading techniques to play movements within that pattern, or just patiently wait for the price to finally break out of the well-established price range.  I have alerts set for the SMH to break above $260 or break below $235, and until one of those levels is finally broken, the chart is telling me to look elsewhere for opportunities.

Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST)

While groups like semiconductors have entered into a clear consolidation phase, big box retailers including Walmart Inc. (WMT) and Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST) have shown a strong beginning to 2025 after a very successful bull run in 2024.

Regardless of what I think of the broad market conditions, I’m always going to want to own good charts that keep going higher.  As I love to sign off my daily market recap show, “It’s always a good time to own good charts!”  So what makes COST and other similar charts in the consumer staples sector so attractive from a technical analysis perspective?

I think it starts with the trend, and COST has been pounding out a fairly consistent pattern of higher highs and higher lows for 18 months and counting.  What’s most encouraging as we enter the month of February is the improvement in relative strength.  COST is making new highs while other charts, such as our next example, are pulling back from recent all-time highs.  At a time when it feels like stocks are beginning to struggle, I’m always looking for charts like Costco that are continuing their uptrend phase with higher highs and higher lows.

Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL)

Our third chart highlights the reality of the Magnificent 7 stocks in early February, with more and more of these previous leadership names beginning to show clear signs of negativity.  Earnings season has not been kind to companies like Alphabet, who despite beating earnings estimates for the quarter, provided a less optimistic forward projection for future earnings growth.

GOOGL gapped lower on Wednesday after making a new all-time high into earnings on Tuesday.  After initially finding support at the 50-day moving average, Alphabet broke below the 50-day on Friday’s trading session.  The gap lower this week also accentuated a bearish momentum divergence, with GOOGL’s higher price highs in February marked by a decline in momentum.  Higher prices and lower RSI are a common feature of a late stage bull market, when stocks are still moving higher but the momentum behind those gains has begun to wane.

While GOOGL still remains above an upward-sloping 200-day moving average, and still appears to be holding trendline support based on the September and November swing lows, this week’s drop on forward guidance certainly has investors wondering where assets could flow if they’re no longer supporting mega cap growth stocks like GOOGL.

Southern California Edison acknowledged Thursday that videos have suggested a possible link between the utility’s equipment and the devastating Eaton Fire in Los Angeles.

But the company has not identified evidence to confirm this, according to a filing with the California Public Utilities Commission. The Eaton Fire, which is now contained, burned about 14,000 acres, destroyed thousands of buildings, killed at least 17 civilians and injured nine firefighters.

“SCE is undertaking a careful and thorough investigation and does not know what caused the ignition of the fire,” the utility said in its filing. The company has not found broken conductors, arch marks, or evidence of faults on energized lines in the area where the Eaton Fire started.

Southern California Edison believes its equipment may have sparked the smaller Hurst Fire, according to a separate filing with the commission. The Hurst blaze, which is also contained, burned about 800 acres. Two homes were damaged by the fire, according to the utility’s filing. No deaths have been reported.

Shares of Edison International, the parent company of Southern California Edison, were trading about 1% lower.

NEW ORLEANS – Luke Kuechly will have to wait for a gold jacket.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025 was unveiled on Thursday evening, consisting of defensive end Jared Allen, cornerback Eric Allen, tight end Antonio Gates and wide receiver Sterling Sharpe, marking the smallest Hall of Fame class in 20 years. Excluded from the list is the former Carolina Panthers linebacker.

Although he’s disappointed not to be inducted into Canton in his first year of eligibility, Kuechly said he’s honored to even ‘be in that conversation’ and added that he’s ‘excited’ for his time to come one day.

‘It’s exciting. I don’t know about anxious,’ Kuechly told USA TODAY Sports Friday from Radio Row ahead of Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans. ‘To get voted in, everything that you’ve done is complete. I got done playing in 2019. Obviously all the work is in. Now at this point, you see if what you did is good enough to get into the Hall of Fame.’

PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME SNUB? Eli Manning doesn’t make cut for unusually small class of 2025

NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.

Many fans believe Kuechly did enough to receive his Hall of Fame call on Thursday, with one social media user labeling his omission as an ‘all-time snub.’ First-ballot finalists Eli Manning, Terrell Suggs, Adam Vinatieri and Marshal Yanda were also bypassed by the 49-member selection committee.

‘You look at the guys that got in and it makes total sense… It’s good for the game,’ Kuechly said. ‘It’s all guys you played with, played against and grew up watching. So it’s cool to be mentioned in that same category.’

Kuechly was drafted out of Boston College with the ninth overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers, where he played his entire eight-year career. He led the league in tackles his rookie season and was named the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2012, in addition to the Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. Kuechly earned seven Pro Bowl nods, five first-team All-Pro honors and was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.

Kuechly, along with the three other modern-era candidates Vinatieri, Willie Anderson and Torry Holt, will be an automatic finalists in next year’s Pro Football Hall of Fame voting and advance to the final 15.

NEW ORLEANS – Josh Allen admitted he was “surprised” to win NFL Most Valuable Player honors for the 2024 season.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback was named the award at Thursday’s NFL honors despite being named second-team All-Pro behind Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who was selected to the first team. He became the league’s first outright MVP not to be a first-team All-Pro since John Elway in 1987. Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair was a second-team selection when he was co-MVP with Peyton Manning in 2003.

“Yeah, I was pretty surprised,’ Allen said after receiving the award, ‘given what we know about, typically, how the voting goes. Lamar was very deserving of this award as well. I have nothing but love and respect for him and his game.”

According to the Associated Press, Allen received 383 total points and Jackson got 362. The split for first-place votes was 27 for Allen to Jackson’s 23.

It’s Allen’s first NFL MVP award. Jackson has won the award twice.

“It feels good,” Allen said. “I feel like my teammates wanted this more for me than I did. But I’m very honored.”

The 4 Nations Face-Off begins in five days, and Canada and the USA are dealing with a few injuries.

Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby will miss Friday’s game with an upper-body injury, ending his ironman streak at 229 games.

He left Tuesday’s game appearing to favor his arm after a collision but returned. He didn’t practice on Wednesday, though he skated on Thursday and Friday.

‘Right now, we’re just taking it one day at a time,’ Penguins coach Mike Sullivan told reporters. ‘He’s not going to play tonight. Obviously, he’s on the ice. He’s participating in the morning skate, which is encouraging from our standpoint.’

Canada’s Anthony Cirelli missed Thursday’s Tampa Bay Lightning game and is day-to-day with an upper body injury. Hockey Canada has to replace Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo, who withdrew to rest an injury and prepare for the rest of the season.

U.S. defenseman Quinn Hughes, meanwhile, has missed three games and didn’t accompany the Vancouver Canucks on their trip to San Jose.

How does that affect his status for the tournament?

‘It depends on the next 48 hours, I guess that’s what it comes down to,’ Canucks coach Rick Tocchet told reporters on Wednesday. ‘We’ll sit down with Quinn and talk to him.’

Hughes will have to balance playing in the tournament against being healthy for the stretch run.

‘I know Quinn is a USA guy,’ Tocchet said. ‘He loves his country, playing with his brother (Jack). There’s a lot of positives to it, but he’s a smart kid, too. He understands what’s at stake.’

The USA got good news on defenseman Zach Werenski, who missed the Columbus Blue Jackets’ game Tuesday but he returned to the lineup Thursday. He said he was feeling better after two days of rest and picked up an assist.

‘If I thought I was going to go the 4 Nations and make anything worse, I wouldn’t go but I don’t think that’s the case at all,’ he told reporters before Thursday’s game.

Hughes and Werenski rank second third in scoring among NHL defenseman.

Finland and Sweden already have made injury replacements.

Sweden picked the Penguins’ Rickard Rakell to replace injured Golden Knights forward William Karlsson. Last week, it replaced injured New Jersey Devils goalie Jacob Markstrom with the Philadelphia Flyers’ Samuel Ersson.

Finland earlier this week added the Buffalo Sabres’ Henri Jokiharju and New York Rangers’ Urho Vaakanainen to replace injured Miro Heiskanen and Jani Hakanpaa.

The tournament – featuring NHL players from the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden – will run from Feb. 12-20 in Montreal and Boston.

President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order establishing a White House Faith Office on Friday.

The new office will ’empower faith-based entities, community organizations, and houses of worship to better serve families and communities,’ according to a fact sheet obtained by Fox News.

The office will be housed under the Domestic Policy Council and will consult experts in the faith community on policy changes to ‘better align with American values.’

The office plans to coordinate with other agencies on training for religious liberty and on elevating grant opportunities for non-profit faith-based entities, community organizations and houses of worship. It will also collaborate with the Department of Justice on identifying constitutional religious liberty protections.

The order will come one day after Trump signed an order to create a task force to identify ‘anti-Christian bias.’

The White House said this ‘Task Force to End the War on Christians’ will comprise members of the president’s Cabinet and key government agencies, and the order seeks to ‘end the anti-Christian weaponization of government.’

It came after nearly two dozen pro-life Christians were charged and sentenced for demonstrating outside abortion facilities during the Biden administration. Trump pardoned 23 pro-life protesters in his first week on the job.
