President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are set to meet in person on Friday for the first time in six years when they get together in Anchorage, Alaska.

Here is a history of Trump’s high-stakes interactions with Putin while being President of the United States:

2015 – Early mutual admiration between Putin and Trump

Mutual admiration was publicly brewing between Putin and Trump in late 2015 when Trump was running for his first term in office.

In December that year, Putin described Trump as being the ‘absolute leader in the presidential race’ and a ‘very outstanding person, talented, without any doubt.’

Trump later told supporters at a rally in Ohio that ‘It is always a great honor to be so nicely complimented by a man so highly respected within his own country and beyond.’

‘I have always felt that Russia and the United States should be able to work well with each other towards defeating terrorism and restoring world peace, not to mention trade and all of the other benefits derived from mutual respect,’ Trump added, according to The Hill.

2017 – Trump, Putin hold first in-person meeting in Germany during G20 Summit

Trump and Putin held their first in-person meeting on July 7, 2017, at the G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany.

The sit-down lasted for more than two hours, during which Trump ‘pressed Russia’s Vladimir Putin on U.S. election meddling while also making headway on the Syria crisis,’ according to a Fox News Digital report at the time.

Then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Trump and Putin ‘connected very quickly’ and had ‘positive chemistry.’

2017 – Trump and Putin shake hands at APEC summit in Vietnam

Trump and Putin were captured on camera shaking hands months later during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Da Nang, Vietnam on Nov. 10, 2017.

White House officials said at the time they would not have a formal meeting there due to scheduling issues, The Washington Post reported.

2018 – Summit draws Trump, Putin to Finland’s presidential palace

Trump and Putin met again formally on July 16, 2018, at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki, Finland.

In an interview following the meeting, Putin told Fox News that he and Trump discussed Iran’s nuclear program and the ‘situation with North Korea.’

He also said Trump informed him that his posture is ‘Crimea is part of Ukraine.’

2019 – Trump says he, Putin had ‘tremendous discussion’ in Osaka, Japan

Trump told reporters on June 29, 2019, that he and Putin had a ‘tremendous discussion’ at the G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan.

‘I think they’d like to do trade with the United States. And they have great product. They have great land. They have very rich land. And a lot of oil, a lot of minerals, and the kind of things that we like,’ Trump said at the time. ‘And I can see trade going out with Russia. We could do fantastically well. We do very little trade with Russia, which is ridiculous, frankly. So I could see some very positive things happening.’

Trump also told his counterpart not to ‘meddle’ in the 2020 elections when pressed by a reporter, Fox News Digital wrote at the time.

Trump, who was seated next to Putin, was asked by a reporter if he would tell ‘the Russian president to not meddle in the election.’ Trump, without looking at Putin, responded, ‘Of course I will. Don’t meddle in the election, president. Don’t meddle in the election.’

2025 – Phone calls between Trump and Putin as war in Ukraine rages on

Trump and Putin held numerous phone calls this year in the lead-up to Friday’s meeting in Alaska.

Calls took place in February, March, May and June.

Trump said after his call in May that ‘Russia and Ukraine will immediately start negotiations toward a Ceasefire and, more importantly, an END to the War.’

2025 – Trump and Putin meet for the first time since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine

Trump and Putin are meeting Friday in Anchorage, Alaska, for the first time in years.

The high-stakes meeting is the first U.S.-Russia summit since June 2021, which was under former President Joe Biden’s administration. That summit came just eight months before Putin invaded Ukraine.

Trump has described the talks as a ‘feel-out meeting,’ and has made clear that his top priority will be to determine whether a ceasefire in Ukraine is possible. Trump predicted earlier this week that he would be able to make that determination within the first ‘two minutes.’

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., is threatening to sue the Trump administration if they don’t release the Epstein files.

Late last month, Schumer and every Senate Democrat on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee invoked an arcane, nearly century-old law to compel the Trump administration to release information on Jeffrey Epstein.

The move came as Epstein drama had already paralyzed the House, and as Democrats in the upper chamber began to ramp up their messaging against President Donald Trump for his handling of the issue.

And Friday was the deadline for the Justice Department and White House to comply, and so far, the documents have not been given to Schumer and Senate Democrats.

‘They’re now breaking the law to hide the files,’ Schumer said on X. ‘[Senate Majority Leader John Thune] must appoint a lawyer to defend the Senate in Court and get the files.’

‘If he chooses complicity — we’ll take them to court ourselves.’

The Justice Department declined to comment on the matter. Fox News Digital reached out to the White House and Thune’s office for comment.

However, a senior GOP aide noted to Fox News Digital that it’s not entirely up to the South Dakota Republican to appoint legal counsel to represent the Senate. Instead, that falls onto the Senate Joint Leadership Group, which includes Thune, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and the president pro-tempore of the Senate, Schumer, and the chairs and ranking members of the Senate Judiciary and, in this case, the Homeland Security committees.

That committee would have to approve legal counsel on a two-thirds vote. Or, the Senate could vote on a resolution to grant legal counsel, which also requires two-thirds of lawmakers to advance.

Last month, Democrats invoked the ‘rule of five,’ a 1928 law that requires government agencies to hand over information if any five lawmakers on a Senate or House committee with jurisdiction over the information make a request. Typically, it’s viewed as a tool of the minority party to exert oversight powers.

In a letter sent to the White House and the DOJ, Schumer and Democrats on the Senate Homeland Security panel charged that it was ‘essential that the Trump Administration provide full transparency,’ in releasing the files related to the late pedophile.

‘We call on you to fulfill those promises of transparency,’ they wrote.

Democrats’ request included all documents, files, evidence and other materials that DOJ had related to the case of U.S. v. Jeffrey Epstein, along with any records related to Epstein and his clients.

However, whether the law is enforceable in court remains to be seen, given that it has seldom been used since its inception.

The last attempt came in 2017, when Democrats tried to force the release of documents surrounding the lease of the Old Post Office building in the District, which became one of Trump’s hotels.

The 2025-26 Premier League season kicks off Friday, with Liverpool starting their title defense by hosting Bournemouth at Anfield.

Despite winning the English top flight by 10 points last season, the Reds haven’t sat still. Liverpool spent over $300 million in transfer fees to bolster a formidable squad. That included pricey moves to add Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitiké to a powerful attack, and replacing right back Trent Alexander-Arnold (who joined Real Madrid) with Jeremie Frimpong.

Bournemouth will be very familiar with one of Liverpool’s big additions, with defender Milos Kerkez leaving the Cherries to join Arne Slot’s side in a $54 million transfer this summer. Still, manager Andoni Iraola — who is likely to include U.S. men’s national team midfielder Tyler Adams in his starting 11 Friday — has impressed since taking over in 2023, using a high-pressing approach that gives bigger-spending teams fits.

As such, it’s hardly the easiest assignment for a team like Liverpool, who are favored to repeat as Premier League champions. The Reds beat Bournemouth home and away last season without conceding a single goal, but the Cherries were able to record solid wins over Arsenal and Manchester City, and are more than comfortable trying to punch above their weight.

Here’s what to know for Friday’s Premier League season opener between Liverpool and Bournemouth:

The NFL Players Association continues to be in the news for all the wrong reasons.

On Tuesday, the NFLPA placed one of its top lawyers on paid administrative leave after multiple employees filed complaints with the union’s human resources department, five sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.

Heather McPhee, associate general counsel for the NFLPA since 2009, was the subject of complaints alleging her failure to follow her supervisors’ directions. That was in addition to other allegations of bullying colleagues and disrupting the union’s work environment, according to ESPN.

It comes just months after her allegations helped prompt a federal investigation into the financial dealings of the NFLPA and the Major League Baseball Players Association in relation to OneTeam Partners, their $2 billion licensing company.

Sources told ESPN that Matt Curtin, the head of NFL Players Inc., the licensing arm of the union, and a member of the OneTeam board, was among those who filed complaints.

The news comes on the heels of a turbulent few weeks for the NFLPA, which has just gone through the resignation of former executive director, Lloyd Howell Jr. on July 17 after potential collusion concerns surfaced in a settlement with the league.

Hayley McNeff, a prominent bodybuilder during the mid-2000s, has died unexpectedly. She was 37.

McNeff died last Friday, Aug. 8, and her funeral will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, according to her obituary.

A Massachusetts native, McNeff won several bodybuilding titles throughout her career, including the 2009 East Coast Classic and 2009 NPC Delaware State, according to bodybuilding website RXMuscle.

‘Such a bright light has left this world too soon,’ her obituary states. It goes on to say, ‘Hayley was known for her quick wit and constant sense of humor, she had a gift for making those around her laugh and feel welcomed. Her energy and determination was a constant in her life and she always accomplished what she set out to achieve. She treasured her friendships and nurtured strong, lasting relationships with those who knew her best. Hayley will be deeply missed by her parents, siblings, extended family and friends.’

McNeff was a respected figure in the bodybuilding community

In the early aughts, McNeff was featured in the ‘Raising the Bar’ documentary series, in which a film crew provided an inside look into her gym routine as she prepared for the 2009 NPC Delaware State.

After winning the 2009 NPC Delaware State and 2009 East Coast Classic, McNeff was cast on the reality television show ‘Iron Maidens,’ which was pitched to follow a group of prominent female bodybuilders. However, the series never aired.

McNeff attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts. In addition to bodybuilding, she was an accomplished equestrian, board diver, and skier as a child and young adult, her obituary states.

Following her bodybuilding career, which peaked in 2009, McNeff pursued graduate studies in psychology to better understand and help others, her obituary states.

The 2025-26 Premier League season is set to kick off, with some of the world’s biggest teams vying to win what is generally regarded as the strongest domestic soccer league on the planet.

Liverpool ended up comfortably claiming last season’s title, finishing the campaign with a 10-point edge on Arsenal. The Reds have not rested on their laurels this summer, spending big to add Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitiké to an offense that scored 14 more goals than any other Premier League team last season.

That said, Mohamed Salah and Co. can expect a tougher campaign this time. Arsenal let themselves down in the season’s final third, throwing away points on several occasions, while Manchester City expects much more once Rodri — their irreplaceable midfielder who missed nearly all of the last season due to a torn ACL — makes his return to full fitness.

Club World Cup champions Chelsea should also be a more consistently formidable force this season, while teams like Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur aim for better performances after some recent struggles.

Here are championship odds for the 2025-26 Premier League season:

With new TV partners for the NBA, massive intrigue in the stacked Western conference and a wide-open Eastern conference, the league is cannonballing into the 2025-26 season.

Starting with opening night on NBC on Oct. 21, followed by two nights of games on ESPN and then a Friday night on Amazon Prime, marquee players, fascinating matchups and championship contenders will be featured on the NBA’s national TV schedule, which was released Thursday, Aug. 14.

NBC rejoins coverage of the league after a two-decade absence, and Amazon Prime gets its first shot at NBA games as part of the NBA’s new, 11-year, $76 billion TV deal. ESPN/ABC remains part of the league’s coverage as well.

Here are unique details of the NBA’s 2025-26 schedule:

What to know about the 2025-26 NBA schedule

This season, there are 247 national TV games, up from 172 in 2024-25.

As part of the new TV deal, in general, Monday NBA games are on Peacock; Tuesday on NBC; Wednesday on ESPN; Thursday on Prime Video; Friday on Prime Video and ESPN; Saturday on Prime Video in the afternoon and ABC at night; and Sunday on ABC in the afternoon and NBC at night.

ESPN and ABC also have the five Christmas games plus the NBA Finals.

Prime Video will feature doubleheaders on Fridays and stream the quarterfinals, semifinals and final of the NBA Cup and all six play-in games.

NBC and Peacock kick off the season with two games on Oct. 21 and will air the four Martin Luther King Jr. Day games. NBC and Peacock are also home to NBA All-Star Weekend events, including All-Star Saturday night and the All-Star Game on Feb. 15.

The NBA will play games on Election Day, Novermber 4, this season – which it did not do in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Each team has at least two national TV games with the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors appearing on 34 national TV games.

The average number of back-to-back games for each team is 14.4, a tad down from 14.9 back-to-backs per team in 2024-25. No team has more than 16 back-to-backs, and a team will play never play the day before games during opening-week national TV games; all Emirates NBA Cup games; all Christmas games; the four-game Peacock/NBC schedule on Martin Luther King Jr. Day; the 10-game ABC Saturday schedule and eight-game ABC Sunday schedule; and the 11-game NBC Sunday schedule.

The NBA plans to launch a digital feature that will make it easier for fans to watch and stream games through NBA.com, the NBA app, team platforms and partner sites.

Making a return

Offseason moves once again altered the NBA landscape. Here are a few notable players who will visit their former team for the first time in 2025-26:

Khris Middleton was traded from the Bucks to the Washington Wizards last season but will play at Milwaukee for the first time since that trade on Oct. 22. He was part of the Bucks’ 2021 championship.
The Houston Rockets’ big new addition, Kevin Durant, plays at Phoenix on Nov. 24.
Myles Turner left Indiana and signed with the Bucks in free agency and will return to play the Pacers on Nov. 3.
Boston traded Jrue Holiday, who helped the Celtics win the title in 2024, to Portland, and Holiday and the Blazers play at Boston on Jan. 26. Two days later on Jan. 28, Kristaps Porzingis, who also won a title with the Celtics in 2024, returns to Boston as a member of the Atlanta Hawks.
Michael Porter Jr. won a title with Denver in 2023, but the Nuggets traded him to Brooklyn in the offseason. The Nets travel to Denver for a Jan. 29 game.
Brook Lopez, like Middleton, was a key figure on Milwaukee’s 2021 title squad, and he undoubtedly will receive a warm welcome when the Clippers play at Milwaukee on March 29.

Must-see NBA games in 2025-26

The 1,230-game schedule from Oct. 21 through April 12 is loaded with quality games. We take a look at the 25 games you can’t miss, including Houston at Oklahoma City on opening night and the Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State in the final week of the regular season. Behind every tattoo is a story – and Damar Hamlin’s is a doozy.

The Buffalo Bills safety is showing off some new ink ahead of the 2025 NFL season, which will be his second since suffering cardiac arrest on the field in Cincinnati.

His new art, created by famed tattoo artist Ganga, which covers Hamlin’s entire back, works to convey everything about the happenings on the field from that January day.

When Hamlin woke up following the near-fatal incident, he famously asked, ‘Did we win?’

Those words are featured prominently on Hamlin’s back, surrounded by a ‘Monday Night Football’ logo along with words of encouragement and a ‘Pray for Damar’ flag. Ganga also added a Paycor Stadium element to the entire display, which was famously the site of Hamlin’s cardiac arrest.

Coupled with plenty of No. 3’s, the tattoo managed to accomplish just about every element of the incident.

Hamlin’s heart stopped after making a tackle against the Cincinnati Bengals on ‘Monday Night Football’ on Jan. 2, 2023. He briefly got up and then fell to the ground, prompting a rush of medical personnel onto the field. After providing CPR, Hamlin was loaded onto a stretcher and into an ambulance.

The game was suspended and postponed.

In the meantime, Hamlin spent time on a ventilator before being able to talk to his family and breathe on his own on Jan. 6.

It was an unforgettable moment in NFL history, one that Hamlin would never forget, especially. Now he has the entire story on his back.
