On border security, support for Israel and diplomacy with President Donald Trump, Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., has bucked the Democratic Party on key issues since assuming office in 2022.

A string of media reports emerged this month detailing Fetterman’s alleged cognitive decline and waning support within the Democratic Party. A New York Magazine report sparked questions about Fetterman’s mental stability. Subsequent reports by the Associated Press, detailing an outburst during a union meeting, and by Politico, which indicated he is losing traction among Pennsylvania Democrats, were slammed by several of his Capitol Hill colleagues as a coordinated smear campaign.

In an era of partisan politics, Fetterman has embraced bipartisanship with newly elected Sen. Dave McCormick, R-Pa. When McComrick was elected in November, the Pennsylvanians traded jabs for joint dinners as Fetterman built his reputation for being willing to reach across the aisle. Fetterman also met with Trump’s controversial Cabinet picks and worked with Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., to pass the Laken Riley Act this year.

While Fetterman, who suffered a stroke during his 2022 Senate campaign, shut down questions about his mental fitness amid the relentless reports, it’s not the first time a Democrat has been targeted after falling out of line with the party.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., faced the ire of the Democratic Party earlier this year when he joined Fetterman in voting to pass the Republicans’ spending bill and avoid a government shutdown. Schumer, currently Senate minority leader, was slammed by progressive Democrats while the future of party leadership hangs in the balance.

Former Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz., was once a Democrat but later registered as an independent. While she continued to caucus with her party, Sinema ruffled liberal feathers by opposing efforts to eliminate the filibuster rule and opposed former President Joe Biden’s ‘Build Back Better’ plan.

In 2022, Sinema said she was leaving the party, adding that ‘nothing will change about my values or my behavior.’

Sinema became the first senator to switch parties since the late Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter – then Republican – famously announced that ‘my change in party will enable me to be re-elected’ in 2009.

Soon after Sinema came now-former West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin. Long seen as a moderate thorn in the side of the increasingly liberal Democrats, Manchin often clashed with his former party on environmental issues, given the Mountain State’s reliance on the fossil fuel industry.

Things came to a head in Charleston when then-Gov. Jim Justice held up his bulldog Babydog backward in the legislative chamber and told actress Bette Midler – who had trashed the state over one of Manchin’s such votes – to ‘kiss her heinie.’

Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard was once considered a rising star in the Democratic Party until her comments and behavior drew the ire of party elders like Hillary Clinton. The anti-interventionist Gabbard, who had appeared in the Moscow media, was anonymously slammed by Clinton in 2019 when she said that ‘somebody who is currently in the Democratic primary’ was a ‘favorite of the Russians.’ An advisor later said Gabbard was the figure in question.

Since then, Gabbard has gone on to make a full partisan 180, becoming a member of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet.

During Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s, D-Calif., historic speakership, another Democrat famously bucked the party and ultimately retired soon after trying to proverbially oust the queen.

North Carolina Rep. Heath Shuler became disaffected by the liberal progression of the party and mounted an unsuccessful challenge to Pelosi’s leadership role after Democrats suffered massive losses in the 2010 midterms.

Shuler, a former then-Washington Redskins quarterback, had been the leader of the moderate Blue Dog Democrat caucus when he took aim at the speakership.

Fetterman’s office did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Fox Corp. will launch its direct-to-consumer streaming service, to be called Fox One, ahead of the National Football League season later this year.

Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch unveiled the name and timing of the company’s upcoming streamer during a quarterly earnings call Monday. The exact launch date and pricing will be announced in the coming months.

While Murdoch didn’t give specifics on pricing, he said during Monday’s call it would be in line with so-called wholesale pricing, meaning it would be similar to the cost of the channels for pay tv distributors. Cable TV subscribers will get access to the service at no additional cost, Murdoch said.

“Pricing will be healthy and not a discounted price,” he said.

“It would be a failure of us if we attract more connected subscribers … we do not want to lose a traditional cable subscriber to Fox One,” said Murdoch. He added the company is doing everything “humanly possible” to avoid more subscribers fleeing the cable bundle.

Fox plans to offer the app as part of bundles with other distributors and services, Murdoch said. He added many other streamers had already approached Fox about bundling and said the company “will be moving forward with a number of those relationships.”

On Monday Fox reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $4.37 billion, up 27% from the same period last year.

Fox’s financials were lifted by the Super Bowl, which aired on the company’s broadcast network and free, ad-supported service, Tubi, during the most recent quarter. Some ads for Super Bowl 59, which attracted roughly 128 million viewers, cost $8 million apiece. Fox reported a 65% increase in advertising revenue during the quarter.

The media company, known for the cable TV channel Fox News and its sports offering on broadcast and cable, had been on the sidelines of streaming compared with its peers. While the company has the Fox Nation streaming app and Tubi, it has yet to offer all of its content in a direct-to-consumer offering.

Murdoch alerted investors in February of the company’s plans to offer the streaming service by the end of this year.

The decision came shortly after Fox, alongside Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney, abandoned efforts to launch Venu, a joint venture sports streaming app. Fox was the only one out of its partners without a subscription streaming app already in the market.

Warner Bros. Discovery offers its live sports content on streamer Max.

Disney’s ESPN has its ESPN+ app and is developing a new flagship streaming app that will reflect the content on its cable TV network. The company will unveil further details on the app this week. CNBC reported last week that ESPN plans to name the app simply ESPN.

Hell hath now frozen over.

President Donald Trump’s decision to accept a $400-million plane from Qatar, as a gift, has prompted stinging criticism from Laura Loomer.

She’s the hard-right activist who specializes in getting the president to fire top officials and withdraw nominees, or at least claims credit for doing so.

If you’ve lost Loomer, you’re losing the argument.

Not according to Donald Trump. He told reporters yesterday that this was a ‘great gesture’ by Qatar, done because ‘we keep them safe,’ referring to Qatar and the UAE, which he’ll be visiting after Saudi Arabia.

He said the maintenance costs on the 40-year-old Air Force One planes are astronomical, and noted that the Reagan Library has such a plane. The decommissioned Qatar aircraft will go to a future Trump Library.

But the Gipper’s plane didn’t come from Qatar.

‘How are we supposed to ever see the US under the Trump admin designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization,’ Loomer wrote, ‘if the US is now going to accept a $400 million jet from Qatar to fly the US President and his staff around on?’

Calling the episode a ‘stain’ on his tenure, she added: ‘I love President Trump. I would take a bullet for him. But, I have to call a spade a spade. We cannot accept a $400 million ‘gift’ from jihadists in suits. The Qataris fund the same Iranian proxies in Hamas and Hezbollah who have murdered US Service Members. The same proxies that have worked with the Mexican cartels to get jihadists across our border.’

The media are in an uproar as well, and the story has only grown bigger since it was first reported by ABC News.

Of course, the luxury 747 will have to be upgraded with secure communications and military equipment. That would take at least till the end of the year.

But one Pentagon official told the New York Times ‘we’re talking years, not months.’

Trump consulted Elon Musk, the DOGE leader and head of SpaceX, who told him that the plane could be delivered in a year.

Two loyalists – Attorney General Pam Bondi and White House Counsel David Warrington – approved the arrangement, according to the Times. Trump toured the 747 in February when it was parked at the Palm Beach airport.

There was a Plan B that got derailed. The Qataris offered to donate the plane immediately to the future Trump Library.

But administration lawyers said that would violate the Constitution’s emoluments clause – which as Beltway insiders know, bars any federal official from accepting personal gifts from a foreign nation without the approval of Congress.

The president’s ‘flood the zone’ approach has ensured that this isn’t the only story out there.

He announced that after two days of talks, the U.S. and China reached a 90-day agreement that would reduce tariffs on Beijing from 145% to 30%, and Chinese tariffs would be cut to 10%.

It’s clear that Trump blinked. Having tanked the markets (which soared yesterday), he was under enormous pressure to undo the damage. So now we’re back to square one, roughly where we might have been without igniting a global crisis.

But perhaps Xi Jinping blinked as well. His government was feeling the impact of the sky-high tariffs as well. The Chinese, with considerably less enthusiasm, said the ‘mistake’ would only lead to further negotiations.

Trump also was able to announce a cease-fire in the escalating war between India and Pakistan, thanks to some weekend diplomacy by Marco Rubio and JD Vance.

Trump also was able to announce that Hamas was freeing the last living American hostage being held by the terrorist group.

Trump also sided with Vladimir Putin, who wants to meet for peace talks with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who first wants a 30-day cease-fire, so that Moscow doesn’t continue the killing and gain more territory while stalling on any pause in the fighting.

Trump also was able to unveil a plan that he says will lower the cost of prescription drugs by 30 to 80%.

But circling back to the 747, the president chided ABC’s Rachel Scott when she tried to question him about the plane:

‘You’re ABC fake news, right? Only ABC — well, a few of you would… Let me tell you, you should be embarrassed asking that question. They’re giving us a free jet. I could say, ‘No, no no, don’t give us. I want to pay you a billion, or 400 million, or whatever it is’ Or I could say, ‘thank you very much.”

Scott tried again: ‘Respectfully, sir, as a businessman, some people may look at this and say, have you ever been given a gift worth millions of dollars and then not —’

‘It’s not a gift to me, it’s a gift to the Department of Defense,’ Trump said. ‘And you should know better, because you’ve been embarrassed enough, and so has your network. Your network is a disaster. ABC is a disaster.’

Whether the president is right or wrong, it seems like these are legitimate questions. And the media are always a great foil for him. So I don’t see him backing down.

Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell is questionable for Tuesday’s Game 5 against the Indiana Pacers (7 p.m. ET, TNT) with a sprained left ankle and will be a game-time decision.

Mitchell did not play in the second half of Indiana’s 129-109 blowout victory in Game 4 on Sunday.

The Pacers lead the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinals series 3-1 and can close out the series in Game 5. Indiana is trying to reach the conference finals for the second consecutive season. Cleveland is the No. 1 seed in the East after posting a 64-18 mark.

Mitchell told reporters after Game 4 that he would be ready for the next game, but that’s a decision that will be made in conjunction with the team’s medical and training staff. He had an MRI on Monday and was listed on the injury report later in the day

Mitchell has had terrific games in the playoffs, scoring at least 30 points in five games, including 48 and 43 points in consecutive games against the Pacers. However, injuries have devastated the Cavs in this series. Key players Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and De’Andre Hunter have missed games due to injuries.

Lottery luck or shady backroom dealing?

When it comes to the NBA draft lottery, opinions are all over the spectrum. The 2025 NBA Draft is all about Duke star Cooper Flagg, who is the crown jewel of the class.

The Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards, Charlotte Hornets and many more were hoping for the chance to alter the course of their franchise if the lottery went that way.

Instead, the tinfoil hats were out in full force moments after the Dallas Mavericks were given the honor to make the first selection June’s draft.

The NBA has been using a lottery format to determine their draft order since it was installed in 1985. Ahead of the 2019 lottery, the format was changed to the odds system in the hopes that it would discourage tanking. In a way, it has done the exact opposite.

This year’s lottery was filled with many non-competitive teams that chose to ‘load manage’ their way through a season with the idea that it would give them a few extra percentage points. None of them, much like last year when the Atlanta Hawks won, will pick at No. 1.

In fact, the team with the worst record has yet to make the first selection since the format changed.

Just months after dealing Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in one of the most controversial trades in NBA history, Dallas took advantage of its 1.8% odds to bring Flagg to the Lone Star State. In other words, you’re saying there’s a chance.

Bottom line, fans were not pleased with the outcome and didn’t waste time in sharing those thoughts on social media. Here’s a look at the reaction.

Numerous news media outlets reported that Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter had graduated from the University of Colorado on May 8, citing social media posts from CU that showed him attending the graduation ceremony and saying he “GOT THAT DEGREE!”

Another CU football post showed Hunter in a video saying he “graduated in three years.”

What actually happened is a little more complicated. He is not scheduled to graduate until December after applying to graduate in fall 2025, according to an athletics department spokesman.

He attended the May 8 graduation ceremony in Boulder anyway to be able to experience it now, before he begins his pro football career as the No. 2 overall draft pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to the school.

“Travis walked in (the May 8) commencement ceremony and will graduate with a degree in anthropology in December 2025,” said Steve Hurlbert, the athletics department spokesman. “He’s likely to be a little busy that time of year and he really wanted to experience all the pomp and circumstance.”

Hurlbert also noted Hunter has a 3.9 grade-point average.

How common is ‘walking early’ before graduation?

It is not that unusual. It’s allowed at other schools, too, for different reasons, such as wanting to participate in the graduation ceremony with your friends even if you need to complete a few more classes to get your degree.

Actually graduating is still different than attending the commencement ceremony because it requires students to meet all their degree requirements. At CU, students are required to apply to graduate for the semester in which they’ll “officially and successfully” complete all requirements for the degrees and majors they’re pursuing, according to the university website.

In Hunter’s case, Hurlbert said he applied to graduate in the fall of 2025, which ends in December. It’s not clear what requirements Hunter has left to complete. Hurlbert declined to say, citing privacy law covering academic records. A message seeking comment from Hunter through his agent was not returned.

This explains why Hunter was not listed among the thousands of degree candidates in the CU commencement program for May 8 even though he attended the ceremony.

“CU had 67 student-athletes graduate last week and 103 student-athletes walked in the ceremony, so it’s not unusual at all for student-athletes who have graduated last winter or will graduate in August or next December to participate in spring commencement because it’s such a great experience,” Hurlbert said.

Why did CU’s social media indicate he got his degree?

The posts from CU football’s social accounts led to widespread reports that Hunter had in fact graduated, including the post that said he “GOT THAT DEGREE!” It showed Hunter in graduation attire with friends saying, “Boys out here graduating man.”

“It was just a social media staffer who didn’t know that (Hunter) was just walking” in the ceremony, Hurlbert said.

Hunter himself seemed to confirm it in another CU post when he said he had “graduated in three years.”

That would be approximate if he only has a small amount of degree requirements to complete. He enrolled at Jackson State in January 2022 after graduating high school, according to The Clarion Ledger in Jackson, Mississippi. He transferred to Colorado in January 2023 after head coach Deion Sanders made the same move.

After previously being listed as a psychology major at CU, he chose to major in anthropology, the study of humanity. In January, he was named the Division I Academic All-American Team Member of the Year.

“I’m an anthropology major, and I really enjoy learning about different cultures and how they interact with one another,” Hunter said in an email interview with USA TODAY Sports last year. “Being able to learn about these cultures and skills is incredibly beneficial to me even when playing football. I have the opportunity to learn the importance of accepting and interacting with other people and playing with other people despite their cultural or ethnic makeup.”

Shilo Sanders earns master’s degree from Colorado

Among the 67 student-athletes who graduated in May, the university said Deion Sanders’ safety son, Shilo Sanders, earned a master’s degree in organizational leadership after previously earning an undergraduate degree at Jackson State. He is now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent.

Sanders’ youngest son, Shedeur Sanders, the former Colorado quarterback, said on his YouTube show in January that he hoped to graduate at the end of the past semester in May. He was selected in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns in the NFL draft in April. The university said he is on track to graduate later this year but has not applied for graduation yet.

NEW YORK — Amazon wins all holiday season with the NFL, from Black Friday to Christmas Day.

The Chicago Bears will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday Nov. 28 in the third edition of the “Black Friday” game. The “Thursday Night Football” studio crew members Charissa Thompson, Andrew Whitworth and Ryan Fitzpatrick revealed the news Monday at a presentation for advertisers.

The steamer will cap a Christmas Day tripleheader  — the first two games of the day are on Netflix — with the Denver Broncos facing the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Dec. 25.

The Chiefs played on Christmas Day last season — a Wednesday that the NFL scheduled games as part of their takeover of the NBA during the holiday.

The Bears will be featured prominently this holiday season. Earlier Monday, FOX announced they’d play at the Green Bay Packers during a standalone window on Saturday Dec. 20 (Week 16).

It’s also the second straight year Amazon has tapped the Chiefs as they defeated the Las Vegas Raiders, 19-17, in 2024.“‘Black Friday Football’ has quickly emerged as a new tradition on the national sports calendar, and we are ecstatic to feature the Super Bowl champions in this tentpole event for the second year in a row,” Prime Video vice president and global head of sports and ads Jay Marine said in a statement.

The Carolina Hurricanes are one win away from advancing to the Eastern Conference final thanks to a 5-2 victory Monday over the Washington Capitals in Game 4 of their second-round Stanley Cup playoff series in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Sean Walker had a goal and an assist, the first two postseason points for the veteran defenseman, as did forward Taylor Hall. Shayne Gostisbehere, Seth Jarvis and Andrei Svechnikov also scored for the Hurricanes, who can punch their ticket by winning Game 5 Thursday in Washington. Frederik Andersen stopped 19 shots in the win.

Jakob Chychrun had a goal and an assist and Alex Ovechkin scored as the comeback attempt by the Capitals fell short. Logan Thompson made 32 saves.

Washington had pulled to within 3-2, but Carolina went back up by two goals when Capitals defenseman Rasmus Sandin’s stick got stuck in the boards.

Carolina took the early lead with Gostisbehere netting the first first-period goal of the series. Jesperi Kotkaniemi, who assisted on the goal with Eric Robinson, screened Thompson on the shot with 9:36 left.

The Capitals had chances in the first period to tie the game as Carolina racked up six penalty minutes. That included a high-sticking double minor on Jordan Martinook with 3:36 left. However, Carolina’s league-best penalty killing unit in the postseason allowed the Capitals just one shot on goal while they had the advantage.

Moments after Martinook left the penalty box, Jarvis upped the Hurricanes’ lead by being in the right place at the right time just 65 seconds into the second period, pouncing on a rebound off Sebastian Aho’s shot that glanced off Thompson and the crossbar.

Washington finally found a way past Andersen when Chychrun scored on a one-timer from Matt Roy with 14:42 left in regulation. However, the Hurricanes recovered their two-goal advantage three minutes later when Jack Roslovicsprung Hall for a breakaway.

Ovechkin broke his three-game goalless streak by scoring on a 5-on-3 power play with 7:36 left. The Capitals had 1:43 remaining on the power play but could not tie the game.

Walker, who also assisted on Hall’s goal, made it 4-2 with 3:15 left.

Svechnikov’s empty-netter 54 seconds later sealed the victory.

Longtime ESPN anchor Chris Berman has agreed to a multiyear contract extension that will keep him with the network through 2029, when he will become ESPN’s first 50-year employee.

Berman, 70, will have a prominent role in the network’s first Super Bowl broadcast in 2027 and continue to host the signature ‘NFL PrimeTime’ show on ESPN+, according to a network press release announcing the extension.

“I came to ESPN at 24 years young for my first full-time TV job. I had a full head of hair, was wet behind the ears, and my assignment was to host the wrap-up SportsCenter at 2:30 a.m. ESPN had been on the air for less than a month and we had fewer than 100 employees,’ Berman said.

“Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined turning 70 and still being here at our network, which long ago became an icon of sports broadcasting. We’re closing in on our very first Super Bowl, and now I will be able to be part of that, too.’

A six-time national sportscaster of the year, Berman was hired just after ESPN launched on Sept. 7, 1979.

He quickly became known for the creative nicknames he gave to sports figures, and he became an icon as the primary voice of ‘NFL PrimeTime,’ the Sunday night highlight show on ESPN that ran from 1987 to 2005 on ESPN and since 2006 on ESPN+.

Berman has covered 43 Super Bowls for ESPN, as well as 30 World Series and 31 MLB All-Star Games.
