President-elect Trump announced his nominations for U.S. ambassadors to five countries on Monday, including Austria and Japan.

In a series of Truth Social posts on Monday night, the incoming president detailed his picks for the U.S. ambassadors to Japan, the Dominican Republic, Austria, Luxembourg and Uruguay. Each nominee will need to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Trump named George Edward Glass, a former U.S. ambassador to Portugal, to serve as the incoming U.S. ambassador to Japan.

‘As a former President of an Investment Bank, George will bring his business acumen to the Ambassador’s position,’ Trump said of Glass. ‘George graduated from the University of Oregon, served as Alumni President, and on its Board of Trustees. He will always PUT AMERICA FIRST. Congratulations George!’

Leah Francis Campos, the sister of ‘Fox & Friends Weekend’ co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy and sister-in-law to incoming Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, was also picked to be an ambassador. Trump nominated her to serve as U.S. ambassador to the Dominican Republic.

‘Leah served our Country as a CIA Case Officer before becoming Senior Advisor for the Western Hemisphere on the House Foreign Affairs Committee,’ the Republican wrote. ‘Leah will take her love of Country, and commitment to our National Security and Prosperity, to her post as U.S. Ambassador to the Dominican Republic. Congratulations Leah!’

Trump also announced Arthur Graham Fisher, the president of Fisher Realty, as his pick for U.S. ambassador to Austria.

‘He has been consistently ranked as a top broker in the area, and the State of North Carolina, representing many of the most astute clients in America,’ the incoming president wrote. ‘Art has been a staunch supporter of America First Policies, and will make us proud in Austria!’

Trump added that Stacey Feinberg and Lou Rinaldi will serve as U.S. ambassadors to Luxembourg and Uruguay, respectively.

‘As a Producer of Broadway musicals, a motivational speaker, and a Board Member of the Women Founders Network, Stacey is committed to supporting women in launching their careers, and scaling their businesses to unprecedented success,’ Trump wrote of Feinberg. ‘Stacy will be GREAT, and make America proud!’

Of Rinaldi, Trump called his nominee a ‘successful businessman, entrepreneur, and longtime friend,’ who grew up in Uruguay.

‘Lou is a great golfer, and will be in a Country with some terrific courses. Having grown up in Uruguay, he possesses an intimate understanding of the Country’s culture and history,’ Trump’s statement read. ‘His expertise and background make him exceptionally qualified to advance U.S. interests, and strengthen the longstanding partnership between the United States and Uruguay.’

A top aide on Vice President Harris’ failed presidential campaign recently called for more cultural voices like the vocal anti-America and anti-Israel Twitch star, Hasan Piker, who previously faced backlash for saying that ‘America deserved 9/11.’

Harris’ former deputy campaign manager, Rob Flaherty, said during a recent interview that Democrats are ‘losing hold of culture’ and laid out a strategy for them to develop a ‘whole thriving system’ ahead of future elections.

‘We need a whole thriving ecosystem,’ Flaherty told Semafor. ‘It’s not just Pod Save America, though I think we should have more of them. It’s not just Hasan Piker. We should have more Hasan Pikers. It’s also the cultural creators, the folks who are one rung out who influence the nonpartisan audience. Those things all need to happen together.’

‘The reality is it’s not going to be big media organizations. It’s going to be a network and a constellation of individual personalities, because that’s how people get their information now,’ he added.

Flaherty, who previously served as the director of digital strategy for the Biden White House, is likely to face backlash for calling for ‘more Hasan Pikers’ due to Piker’s past controversial comments. Piker, who previously raised more than $1 million for Palestinian aid, has used his platform with millions of followers to downplay and justify terrorist attacks such as Oct. 7 and 9/11 as acts of resistance in recent years.

During a 2019 livestream, Piker praised the ‘brave f—ing soldier’ who wounded conservative U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, while he was deployed to Afghanistan as a Navy SEAL, asking, ‘Didn’t he go to war and, like, literally lose his eye because some mujahideen, a brave f—ing soldier, f—ed his eyehole with their d—?’

He went on to say that ‘America deserved 9/11, I’m saying it,’ before later walking it back and saying it was ‘inappropriate.’ However, in another stream this year, Piker joked about 9/11 again, saying, ‘Oh my god, 9/11 2 is going to be so sick’ and ‘give Saudi Arabia a nuke so they can do 9/11 2.’

In another stream, Piker broadcast propaganda from the Houthis, an Iranian-backed group in Yemen that has been designated by the U.S. as a terrorist group. Instead of explicitly addressing the materials as questionable propaganda, the streamer instead expressed sympathy and admiration for the group.

‘They do musicals about, like, their f—ing actions all the time,’ Piker said of the terrorist propaganda. ‘They love walking over like the American flag and the Israeli flag, side by side.’

‘They do not care about the heavy missiles … they will literally take the war to them no matter what. … For them, it’s an act of resistance. You know what I mean?’ he added.

‘It doesn’t matter if f—ing rapes happened on Oct. 7,‘ Piker said in a May 22 stream. ‘It doesn’t change the dynamic [of Palestinians and Israelis] for me.’

During an April 18 stream, Piker also expressed that Hamas was the ‘lesser evil’ next to the Israeli military.

While Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and others have been on Piker’s platform, Dem Rep. Ritchie Torres of New York wrote a letter this year to top executives at Twitch and Amazon expressing ‘alarm about the amplification of antisemitism on Twitch at the hands of Hasan Piker’ and said Piker has ’emerged as the poster child for the post-October 7th outbreak of antisemitism in America.’

‘Outside the context of October 7th, Mr. Piker has even joked and mused about men date-raping women on a college campus and has posted an image of a handgun on top of a United States Senator in what appears to be open invitation to gun violence against a sitting elected official,’ Torres said. ‘Inviting one’s followers to shoot an elected official, whether it be done in earnest or in jest, is the kind of threat that warrants serious attention from federal law enforcement.’

Piker’s Twitch streams regularly hit more than a million views and often have as many as 30,000 viewers at a given time.

Fox News Digital reached out to Flaherty for comment but did not receive a response.

The former head of Ozy Media has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in an alleged fraud involving the failed content startup.

Carlos Watson was facing a maximum of 37 years in prison after his July conviction on securities and wire fraud charges. Prosecutors had sought a 17-year sentence and multimillion-dollar forfeiture to the government.

“The quantum of dishonesty in this case is exceptional,” U.S. District Judge Eric Komitee said in handing down the sentence, according to The Associated Press. He later told Watson: “Your internal apparatus for separating truth from fiction became badly miscalibrated.”

Watson pleaded not guilty to the charges and has continued to maintain his innocence.

The rise and fall of Ozy closely tracked the broader internet media bubble of the 2010s. The group attempted to ride the investment wave generated by the likes of BuzzFeed and Vice, which were attracting billions in venture capital.

Both of those firms have themselves faced financial reckonings: BuzzFeed narrowly avoided being delisted from the stock market, while Vice filed for bankruptcy.

During the Watson trial, a former lieutenant explained the pressures Ozy came under to stay afloat — and the boundaries it crossed to do so.

“Survival within the bounds of decency, fairness, truth, it morphed into survival at all costs and by any means necessary,” former Ozy Chief Operating Officer Samir Rao told jurors, saying that Watson had sanctioned all his falsehoods. Rao himself pleaded guilty.

President-elect Donald Trump and the head of Japanese tech conglomerate SoftBank, Masayoshi Son, will announce a $100 billion investment effort designed to spur artificial intelligence and related infrastructure projects.

The effort, first reported by CNBC, will attempt to create 100,000 jobs over four years.

Trump and Son announced a similar initiative in 2016 after Trump was elected president for the first time, with the Japanese firm agreeing to invest $50 billion in the U.S. with the aim to create 50,000 jobs. It is not clear whether that effort fully paid off, as many of SoftBank’s numerous startup investments in the U.S. and beyond failed to pay off. A 2019 report from Forbes found hard data on the ultimate impact difficult to come by. Axios, however, reports it largely met the marks, at least for a time.

Today, SoftBank is a much smaller company than when Trump first took office nearly a decade ago — and according to Bloomberg News, only has $25 billion in cash on hand, raising questions about how Son and his firm will come up with the pledge money.

A SoftBank representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Son joins the slew of tech titans announcing investments following Trump’s electoral victory. Earlier this month, Amazon and Meta, the parent company of Facebook, each announced $1 million contributions to Trump’s inaugural fund, as have OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and the AI startup Perplexity.

Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson is resigning after 11 seasons with the Demon Deacons, the school announced on Monday, ending one of the most successful tenures in program history.

Clawson, 57, went 67-69 overall with six winning seasons and seven consecutive bowl berths from 2016-22. Struggling to maintain a foothold in a competitive ACC without ample resources related to name, image and likeness, Wake Forest went a combined 8-16 the past two years.

In retirement, Clawson will serve as a special advisor to athletics director John Currie, the university said.

“Coaching at Wake Forest has been the honor of my career,” Clawson said in a statement. ‘This is a special place with extraordinary people, and I am deeply grateful for the relationships I’ve built over the last 11 years. Together, we achieved things that many thought impossible, and I step down knowing I gave everything I had for this program and university.”

The seven bowl bids and five bowl wins are the most of any coach in program history. Wake tied a school record with 11 wins and reached the ACC championship game in 2021, earning Clawson ACC coach of the year honors. That team rose as high as No. 9 in the College Football Playoff rankings.

He inherited a program in 2014 that had not posted a winning record since 2008 and had just three winning seasons since 2003. Clawson’s 67 wins rank third in program history, 10 shy of the record shared by Peahead Walker (1937-50) and his predecessor Jim Grobe (2001-13).

This marked the fourth rebuilding project in a career that left Clawson as the only coach in Division I history to win 10 or more games in a season at four different schools.

Hired at Fordham in 1999, Clawson’s first team went 0-11 but his final two went a combined 19-6 with one Patriot League championship. At Richmond beginning in 2004, Clawson finished 3-8 in his debut but went 11-3 in 2007 and reached the Championship Subdivision playoff semifinals.

At Bowling Green, his first Bowl Subdivision stop, Clawson went 32-31 overall but 18-8 in his final two seasons, winning the MAC in 2013.

“Dave Clawson has been the epitome of integrity, innovation, and excellence in college football,” said Currie. “He elevated Wake Forest football to unprecedented heights, not only through success on the field but also by fostering the development of young men as leaders in life. Quite simply, Dave Clawson’s leadership, competitive drive and strategic instincts have made football at Wake Forest important, and a flagship program for our entire community and University at a scale that might have been unimaginable to most when he arrived 11 years ago.”

Michael Vick could soon be joining the college football coaching ranks, and he appears to have options

The former NFL quarterback and current FOX Sports analyst recently interviewed to become the next football coach at Norfolk State University, he confirmed in a report Monday from The Virginian-Pilot and Newport News Daily Press. Norfolk State is an HBCU and Football Championship Subdivision school located near the Hampton Roads area of southeast Virginia that produced Vick.

Vick is also in discussions with Sacramento State football about its head coaching job, according to ESPN, in advance of Sacramento State building a new stadium, increasing its NIL funds and planning to become an FBS program in the near future.

Vick told the local outlets in Virginia that Norfolk State approached him about the job opportunity and he has since spoken with university president Javaune Adams-Gaston and Spartans athletic director Melody Webb about the position. Vick said he expects a resolution ‘soon.’

Norfolk State fired former coach Dawson Odums last month after he compiled a 15-31 record over four seasons. Sacramento State announced former coach Andy Thompson’s resignation last month. He finished with a 11-14 record over two seasons.

NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.

Vick, 44, has no formal coaching experience, but he would be joining a collection of former NFL players to begin their college coaching careers at an HBCU. Deion Sanders most recently parlayed his success at Jackson State into the job at Colorado, although Sanders had previously worked as a high school coach before Jackson State. Former Tennessee Titans and Ohio State star Eddie George got hired by Tennessee State in 2021 with no prior coaching experience and led the program to the FCS playoffs this season.

Vick has previously served as a training camp intern for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017. He was also slated to be the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Legends of the now-defunct Alliance of American Football league, but it was announced he would serve in an advisory role two days before the team’s first game.

Vick initially became a star as a dual-threat quarterback at Virginia Tech, finishing third in 1999 Heisman Trophy voting and leading the Hokies to the national championship game. He was the No. 1 pick in the 2001 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons, electrifying fans with his arm and legs while leading the franchise to the NFC Championship game and eventually becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season.

Vick’s NFL career was temporarily derailed after he was sentenced to 23 months in federal prison for his role in an illegal dogfighting ring in 2007. He has spent years working with and on behalf of animal rights groups in the aftermath of pleading guilty to the felony charge. Vick returned to the field with the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2009 season and was named the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year in 2010. He last played in an NFL game in 2015 with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This story has been updated with news that includes Vick’s discussions with Sacramento State.

The San Fransisco 49ers are 6-8 following another disappointing loss in Week 15. The defending NFC champions mustered up just six points against the Los Angeles Rams (8-6) in their latest game during its injury-riddled season. The loss was the latest blow to the 49ers dwindling playoff hopes.

With a mounting list of injured stars on its roster, veterans George Kittle, Jauan Jennings and Deebo Samuel were expected to step up. The latter has failed to do so, and Samuel took to social media to address his frustration and struggles before last week’s game.

‘Not struggling at all just not getting the ball,’ Samuel initially posted on X before the post was deleted.

Samuel is in his sixth season with the Niners, and his poor performance has prompted criticism around the league. On Monday, 49ers legend Jerry Rice expressed disappointment with Samuel’s showing against the Rams during an appearance on 95.7 The Game radio station.

Here’s what the Hall of Famer said about Samuel.

NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.

Jerry Rice critical of Deebo Samuel

One week after Samuel made headlines on social media trying to find a way to summarize his struggles, Rice criticized Samuel for complaining.

‘I don’t know what is going on. For me, I would have been pissed at myself and at the whole scenario. After you complain about not getting that many touches, you cannot drop the football because everybody is going to get down on you, and they’re going to come after you,’ Rice said during the interview on the Bay Area radio station.

Rice shared that he never complained about a lack of opportunities during his career.

‘I just worked, man,’ Rice said. ‘I just kept working. If you show it during practice, they’re going to make the call during the actual football game where you’re going to have opportunities where you can make catches, get into a rhythm, and be productive.’

Deebo had an opportunity to prove he needed more opportunities but dropped the ball. With the 49ers tied 3-3 out of halftime, Samuel’s critical drop to end their first drive in the third quarter could have put San Fransisco up by a touchdown over the Rams. Instead, he allowed Brock Purdy’s pass to slip through his hands and a potential 29-yard touchdown reception turned into a 47-yard field goal by Jake Moody.

Samuel managed three catches for 16 receiving yards and added two rushes for three yards.

The 49ers faithful made their frustration known after the dropped potential touchdown, showering down boos.

‘Very, very frustrating,’ Samuel admitted to reporters after the game when addressing the drop. ‘At the end of the day, if I catch that ball, there’s nothing there but end zone. I’ve just got to catch that route.’

Samuel’s next opportunity to produce for his team will be on Sunday when the 49ers play the Miami Dolphins in Week 16 on the road.

There’s a new No. 1-ranked player in the transfer portal.

Washington State quarterback John Mateer is entering the transfer portal, Cougars coach Jake Dickert confirmed Monday. He’s the No. 1-ranked player available, according to 247Sports’ rankings.

‘College football is in a different spot than it was five years ago, 10 years ago,’ Dickert told reporters. ‘John will be the most sought-after player in the portal, I think he’s gonna be the best player in the country next year. He informed us he is in fact going to hit the portal.’

Mateer, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining, led the country in total touchdowns in his first season as the Cougars’ starter, passing for 3,139 yards with 29 touchdowns to seven interceptions, while also rushing for 826 yards with 15 additional scores. The redshirt sophomore replaced Cam Ward, who finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting this season after transferring from Washington State to Miami.

‘He’s always been that player,’ Ward said of Mateer in a recent interview. ‘He was my backup. When I would see him in scrimmages, just the plays that he would make in the pocket, outside the pocket. John’s about to have another good year next year when he comes back.

‘I’m excited for him, he sat behind me for two years and me and John (were) just locked in, locked in for life. And I can just tell the biggest thing he got better at over the course of the season was staying in the pocket and winning from the pocket even more down the stretch. He’s accurate with the football. I think he’ll end up being one of the best quarterbacks in the country next year.’

The 6-foot-1 quarterback had a meteoric rise to college success, as he was barely a 3-star recruit in the 2022 recruiting class, ranked the No. 1766 player overall and No. 119 quarterback, according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings. The Little Elm, Texas, native had one Power Four offer, which was from Washington State during its time in the Pac-12.

Mateer is the latest quarterback aiming to make a move to the higher levels of college football, a consistent theme in the age of the transfer portal. He will be a hot commodity on the market, especially for quarterback-needy teams.

While it’s unclear where Mateer might be headed, Oklahoma seems to be a clear suitor for Mateer, as the Sooners hired former Washington State offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle for the same job after the regular season. Oklahoma also reportedly brought quarterbacks coach John Kuceyeski from Washington State, as well, to be a senior offensive analyst.

Miami could be another option, as Mateer formerly backed up Ward, who found tremendous success for the Hurricanes and blossomed into a projected first-round pick in his final collegiate season.

The Minnesota Vikings (11-2) meet the Chicago Bears (4-9) on ‘Monday Night Football’ in Week 15. Of course, both teams have surprised in their own way.

The NFC North has been, somewhat surprisingly, one of the most competitive divisions in football in 2024. While the Detroit Lions have a step on the Vikings, Minnesota is still in the division race, thanks in no small part to Sam Darnold.

Unfortunately for the Bears and Caleb Williams, there hasn’t been as much to celebrate in 2024. While Williams, the 2024 No. 1 overall pick, has shown flashes of brilliance throughout the season, the Bears organization has faced turmoil, leading to the ousting of head coach Matt Eberflus on Black Friday.

The Atlanta Falcons and Las Vegas Raiders meet on ‘Monday Night Football,’ and plenty of questions will be answered in the matchup.

First, for the Falcons. Quarterback Kirk Cousins has gone through a significantly difficult stretch of football in recent weeks, throwing eight interceptions to no touchdowns in Atlanta’s last four games. That poor play has resulted in a four-game skid for a team that once looked poised to challenge for the NFC South crown.

Instead, questions have arisen over Cousins’ viability as the starter and the likelihood that the Falcons can finish the job in the division. Still, Atlanta is within striking distance of the NFC South title, but it will need Cousins to get right on Monday night. Luckily, he has the right opponent to do it against.

There are many, many more questions about the direction of the Raiders. Nothing has gone right for the silver and black this year, from the quarterback position on down. That has led to questions around the job security of Antonio Pierce, who is in his first full season as Raiders head coach.

Pierce had to navigate some choppy waters this season, some of his own making. Still, with questions about the roster, the coach and the future, the Raiders are likely looking more toward next year than they are Monday.
