Baltimore Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy was ‘disappointed’ by the Kansas City Chiefs medical staff, calling them ‘unprofessional,’ after he suffered an eye injury in the 2024 NFL season opener.

Van Noy detailed his displeasure with the Kansas City staff during an episode of the ‘McCoy and Van Noy’ podcast he does with former NFL All-Pro Gerald McCoy. Van Noy left the loss to the Chiefs with an injury that was later determined to be a fractured orbital bone.

Van Noy said it took some time before a specialist came to see him after he left the game and headed to the locker room.

‘I was disappointed in the way the training staff of the Chiefs handled the situation,’ Van Noy said. ‘I was supposed to see a ophthalmologist… They took an entire quarter to get down to talk to me in the locker room, which, to me, is unacceptable.

‘What if I was trying to go back in the game? What if I was really, really hurt? I know mine happened to be moderate, but it still was serious,’ he added. ‘Just the way it took time was super unprofessional to me.’

The two-time Super Bowl champion said he figured there would be more sense of urgency to tend to an injured player. He claimed ‘the friend of the doctor’ that came to visit him was holding Styrofoam cups ‘like everything was good.’

Van Noy also mentioned the ‘F’ grade Chiefs owner Clark Hunt received from members of the NFL Players Association after the 2023 season. Kansas City finished 31st overall due to the quality of care players received from the training staff and the outdated facilities.

‘I understand how Kansas City, the players, have given that training room an F because with my experience I would have probably, after that, gave them an F, too,’ Van Noy said.

The linebacker finished by saying he doesn’t want an apology from the Chiefs or for them to put out a statement responding to his criticism, because he knows what he experienced.

‘I have respect for medical people everywhere in the league, of course. Our place, Kansas City, every place in the league I have respect for. I have the utmost respect for the players, certainly Kyle Van Noy. He’s my guy. I love him,’ Harbaugh said.

Van Noy didn’t provide a timetable for his return. He did not participate in practice on Wednesday and his status for the Week 2 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders is undetermined.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill will suit up for his second game since he was detained following a traffic stop a block from his team’s stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, hours before the Dolphins kicked off their season opener.

Miami will host the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night in a Week 2 contest between the AFC East rivals, but a lot has happened in Hill’s case over the past week.

Hill, 30, was detained for about 15 minutes after a Miami-Dade Police Department officer pulled him over for careless driving and driving without a seat belt.

What happened during Tyreek Hill’s traffic stop Sunday in Miami Gardens?

Hill was pulled over Sunday, a block away from Hard Rock Stadium, hours before the Dolphins were set to host the Jacksonville Jaguars in their Week 1 game.

According to body-cam footage released Monday by the Miami-Dade Police Department, the encounter between Hill and the primary responding officer started as a routine traffic stop. The officer, who was on a motorcycle, pulled Hill over, knocked on the window of his McLaren 720S coupe and informed him that he was speeding.

‘Don’t knock on my window like that,’ Hill told the officer, repeating it at least seven times. ‘Give me my ticket, bro, so I can go. Do what you have to do.’

After Hill turned over his license, he rolled his window up again. The officer knocked on the window twice more.

‘Keep your window down or I’m going to get you out of the car,’ the officer said. ‘As a matter of fact, get out of the car. … Get out of the car right now. We’re not playing this game. Get out. Get out!’

At least three officers are seen pulling Hill, who was on the phone, out of the car and onto the ground.

‘Hey Drew, hey Drew, I’m getting arrested dude. I’m getting arrested,’ Hill said as he’s brought to the ground. Hill was speaking to Dolphins head of team security Drew Brooks, who later arrived at the scene.

Hill was placed in handcuffs, standing on the curb while another officer attempted to bring him down to the ground in a seated position.

‘I just had surgery on my knee! I just had surgery on my knee!’ Hill said. ‘Chill bro, chill bro.’

After forcing him to the ground, an officer said to Hill: ‘Did you just have surgery on your ears when we told you to put your window down?’

Hill complained about knee pain several times and repeatedly asked if he could stand, citing tendonitis. 

‘I’m not playing today, bruh, because that dude (expletive) my knee up. Like he really tackled me on my knee on this damn cement, bruh,’ Hill said. 

Teammates Jonnu Smith and Calais Campbell are also shown on the body-camera footage, interacting with officers while attempting to assist Hill. Smith appeared to receive a traffic ticket for failing to move his car. Campbell was briefly placed in handcuffs after also declining to leave the scene.

As the initial officer explained to another officer what led to the stop, Hill can be heard in the background saying: “I’m just being a Black man, that’s it. I’m just being Black in America, bruh. … I’m just being a Black man in America, bruh, with a nice car.” 

An officer informed Hill he was being cited for careless driving and driving without a seatbelt.

After being joined at the scene by Brooks and Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, Hill left the scene by shaking hands with the responding officers, including the one who initially pulled him over. He told the officers: ‘Respect, for real. It’s nothing personal. Appreciate it. Appreciate it.’

‘I still got love for y’all,’ Hill added as he walked away. ‘I still want to be an officer one day. I’ve got respect for all of y’all.’

The Dolphins would go on to defeat the Jaguars, 20-17. Hill caught seven passes for 130 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown.

What has Tyreek Hill said about the incident?

Hill said Wednesday that he wishes he ‘could go back and do things a bit differently’ during his encounter with police.

‘Yes, I will say, I could’ve been better. I could’ve let down my window in that instance,’ Hill said in a news conference. ‘… I don’t want attention, I don’t want to be cameras out, phones on you in that moment. But at the end of the day, I’m human. I’ve got to follow rules. I’ve got to do what everyone else would do.

‘Now, does that give them the right to literally beat the dog out of me? Absolutely not. But at the end of the day, I wish I could go back and do things a bit differently.’

This came one day after Hill and his legal team called for one of the officers involved in the matter, Danny Torres, to be fired.

‘We are of the opinion that the officer’s use of force was excessive, escalating, and reckless,’ Hill and his lawyers said Tuesday night in a statement. ‘We are demanding that the officer be terminated effective immediately.

Hill reiterated later Wednesday that he believes Torres should be ‘gone.’

What were the citations in the Tyreek Hill traffic stop?

According to the citations, which were released by Miami-Dade police on Tuesday, police estimated that Hill’s McLaren 720S coupe was traveling about 60 mph before the stop. The speed limit in that stretch of road near Hard Rock Stadium is 40 mph.

The officer who pulled Hill over wrote in short-hand on the citations that he was speeding in an area that was heavy with both car and foot traffic — the combination of factors that likely resulted in the careless driving citation.

Hill will owe about $300 in fines for the two tickets.

Who is officer put on administrative duties by MDPD?

The Miami-Dade Police Department launched an internal affairs investigation into the Hill incident, and announced an officer was placed on administrative duties.

‘The department is committed to conducting a thorough, objective investigation into this matter, and we will continue to update the public on the outcome of that process,’ she said in a statement.

On Tuesday, in a release emailed to USA TODAY Sports, MDPD identified Danny Torres, who has 27 years of tenure with the department, as the officer who was placed on administrative duties.

An attorney for Torres issued a statement earlier Tuesday requesting that he be reinstated immediately. Meanwhile, a number of critics — including Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus — have said they believe the officers involved in the traffic stop should be fired.

No, Danny Torres has not publicly commented on the matter, though he has retained lawyers to handle the case. His attorneys are arguing that placing him on administrative duties was ‘premature’ and are requesting that their client be returned to his usual role.

‘We call for our client’s immediate reinstatement, and a complete, thorough, and objective investigation, as Director Daniels has also advocated,’ attorneys Ignacio Alvarez and Israel Reyes said Tuesday in a news release. ‘Our client will not comment until this investigation is concluded and the facts are fully revealed.’

How fast was Tyreek Hill going when he was pulled over?

Hill was pulled over by a police officer on a motorcycle just outside Hard Rock Stadium on Sept. 8 and informed that he was speeding. Officers later said they clocked Hill going 60 miles per hour. Hill’s official citation, released Tuesday, detailed ‘high rate of speed visual estimation 60 mph.’ The speed limit on the road where Hill was pulled over is 40 mph.

“They were trying to yank him down to the ground. I saw them kick him, pull him down, put on the cuffs. The shoulders look like they were messed up. They got him down. One officer pushed on his head. It was completely unnecessary,” Campbell said during an interview on ESPN’s “First Take” on Monday. 

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said it was ‘a little emotional’ to watch the body-cam footage of the incident, but added that Hill has approached some members of the team

‘I would say just watching the film, in my opinion, I think it could have been deescalated another way,’ Tagovailoa said Tuesday. ‘I don’t think it was done the right way. There’s a lot of things that I think could have been done different, but I know Tyreek has gathered a group of us together to do something, to help change some things. He’s come up with a couple ideas and we’ve gathered to talk about what we wanted to do.’

In a social media message posted Monday, Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey responded to the body-cam footage and said: ‘FIRE EM IMMEDIATELY!’

Who is Tyreek Hill?

Hill, 30, is a nine-year NFL veteran receiver and a five-time first-team All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowl player. Known for his speed and elusiveness, Hill has been one of the most productive receivers in the last half decade. He led the NFL last year in receiving yards (1,799) and tied Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans for most receiving touchdowns (13).

Hill previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs (2016-21), before the Dolphins traded for him ahead of the 2022 season.

The Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals met in Week 17 of the 2022 NFL season in what was one of the most anticipated matchups of the regular season.

Both teams were viewed as the teams with the best chance to beat the Kansas City Chiefs, the prohibitive AFC favorite, in the postseason. The winner of the contest would likely stake a claim to a home playoff game and have the inside track to an AFC championship game appearance.

Hamlin’s heart stopped on the field after he made a tackle. He was given urgent medical care by Buffalo’s staff and received CPR before being taken away in an ambulance. Players were naturally distraught as they feared for Hamlin’s life.

Just 11 days later, Hamlin would be discharged from the hospital after a miraculous recovery. Less than two years after his near-death experience, he has completed an improbable NFL comeback to be a starter for the Bills.

Damar Hamlin timeline: From cardiac arrest to Bills starter

Jan. 2, 2023: Damar Hamlin suffers a cardiac arrest on the field after tackling receiver Tee Higgins in the first quarter of the Bills vs. Bengals game. Hamlin briefly got up before falling to the ground, which prompted Buffalo’s medical staff to rush out to him.

Bills medical staffers administered CPR to Hamlin, who was placed onto a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance. He was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center while the game was suspended and later postponed.

No updates about Hamlin’s condition were provided on the night of the incident. The Bills reported the following morning that Hamlin had suffered a cardiac arrest and had his heartbeat restored on the field. The team also announced he was in critical condition.

Jan. 6, 2023: After a few days in the hospital on a ventilator, the Bills announced that Hamlin was able to talk to his family and breathe on his own. Dr. Timothy Pritts reveals Hamlin’s ‘neurological condition and function is intact,’ and Hamlin is able to FaceTime his teammates and coaches briefly.

Jan. 7, 2023: Hamlin first posts to social media after being in the hospital. He thanks Bills and NFL fans alike for their support during his ordeal and acknowledges he has a long recovery ahead of him.

Hamlin continues to post updates, pictures and thoughts about his teammates to social media during their final regular-season game and playoff run.

Jan. 11, 2023: Two days after being transferred from University of Cincinnati Medical Center to Buffalo General Medical Center, Hamlin is discharged from the hospital entirely.

Jan. 14, 2023: Hamlin visits the Bills the day before their playoff game against the Dolphins. He doesn’t attend the actual contest as he continues to recover from his cardiac arrest, but he visits the facility often during the rest of the team’s playoff run.

‘Damar Hamlin is in the building now, almost starting daily,’ coach Sean McDermott said the day after Buffalo’s 34-31 win over Miami. ‘He’s not in meetings but [is] taking it one baby step at a time.’

Jan. 22, 2023: Hamlin attends the Bills’ season-ending loss against the Bengals at Highmark Stadium. Hamlin is shown on the Jumbotron, and the Buffalo fans go wild cheering him on.

Feb. 13, 2023: Hamlin discusses his recovery for the first time in an interview with ABC. He admitted he was ‘still working through things’ mentally despite making physical strides in his recovery.

‘I’m still trying to process all the emotions and the trauma that comes from, you know, dealing with a situation like that and not really having people around or, you know, like, no one in my immediate circle who’s dealt with something like that,’ Hamlin told Good Morning America.

April 18, 2023: Hamlin announces he intends to play football during the 2023 NFL season three and a half months after his on-field cardiac arrest.

‘I’ve been beating statistics my whole life, so I like my chances here,’ Hamlin said of returning to football, per NFL.com.

Hamlin also reveals his cardiac arrest occurred because of commotio cordis, a condition during which the heart stops after a sudden, blunt impact to the chest. He also details that he is using his foundation to raise awareness about CPR training and AED usage and wants to use his comeback to motivate others who have faced hardships akin to his.

‘My heart is still in it. My heart is still in the game,’ he said. ‘I love the game. It’s something I want to prove to myself — not nobody else. I just want to show people that fear is a choice. You can keep going in something without having the answers and without knowing what’s at the end of the tunnel. Or you might feel anxious, you might feel any type of way, but you keep putting that right foot in front of the left one and you keep going. I want to stand for that.’

July 31, 2023: Hamlin partakes in padded practice at Bills training camp for the first time. He had participated in activities during Bills OTAs, but he wasn’t in pads at that event.

Hamlin calls his return to the field ‘a roller coaster of emotions.’

“In football, you can’t hit that field with no hesitation,” Hamlin said, per ProFootballTalk. “You’re putting yourself in more danger by doing that. I made the choice to play, but I’m processing a thousand emotions. I’m not afraid to say that it crosses my mind of being a little scared here and there. But like I say, my strength is rooted in my faith, and my faith is stronger than any fear.’

Aug. 12, 2023: Hamlin returns to the field for the Bills in their preseason game against the Colts. He logs three tackles in a 23-19 win, and said that being back on the field ‘felt good.’

‘It for surely felt like a little weight off my shoulders,’ Hamlin told reporters after the game, per the Associated Press. ‘Amazing. It just makes me feel like I’m back in that element.’

Aug. 29, 2023: Hamlin makes the Bills’ 53-man roster after making it through the team’s final cuts. He is the fifth safety on the team’s depth chart, so it isn’t clear how much playing time he will get during the 2023 NFL season.

Oct. 1, 2023: After being inactive for the Bills’ first three games, Hamlin makes his return to the NFL in a 48-20 Week 4 win over the Dolphins. He played 18 special teams stats and doesn’t record a statistic.

After the game, Hamlin expressed he was ecstatic to return to the field.

‘I think it was more so about promising to myself than anything else, just showing myself that I have the courage, I have the strength, that I have the pride, everything, all those words, in me to be able to go through something traumatic and to be able to come back from it,’ Hamlin told The Associated Press. ‘To be able to still do what I love at the highest level in the world is amazing.’

Jan. 21, 2024: Hamlin finishes the 2023 NFL season having played in seven games, including two postseason contests. He logged four total tackles (two in the regular season and two in the postseason) and notched a 2-yard run in Buffalo’s 27-24 playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Hamlin is favored to win the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year Award, but it is given to Joe Flacco for his efforts quarterbacking the Browns.

Aug. 5, 2024: Hamlin is asked about his mindset at Bills training camp in 2024, as he fights for both a roster spot and a potential starting job. He credits returning to the field in 2023 for putting him at ease in advance of the season.

‘My mind is free. My spirit is free. My soul is free,’ Hamlin told The Associated Press. ‘I’m able to think clearly. I’m not hindered by second thoughts of what could maybe happen again.’

Sept. 4, 2024: A week after making Buffalo’s roster for the 2024 season, Sean McDermott names Hamlin one of the team’s starting safeties next to veteran Taylor Rapp.

‘What else can’t this young man do?’ McDermott said of Hamlin’s efforts during training camp and the preseason, per the Bills’ official website.

‘I think it’s consistency and opportunity,’ McDermott added. ‘The opportunity that was there, he took advantage of it and was consistent. (He) built a certain level of rapport with T-Rapp, and that’s important as well at the safety position.’

Hamlin’s Week 1 start would mark his first since the 2022 NFL season. He made 13 starts during that campaign helping to fill in for an injured Micah Hyde.

‘I was super excited,’ Hamlin said of finding out he won a starting job, per CBS News. ‘Not going to lie, man, it’s like a dream come true to work so hard then get what you worked for,’ he added. ‘But I want to continue on. You know, it’s not about just performing in one game.’

Sept. 8, 2024: Hamlin starts for the Bills in their 34-28 win over the Cardinals. He records four tackles and allows a passer rating of 91.7 during the contest, per Pro Football Focus.

Hamlin told reporters he was ‘locked in’ before the game and worried about execution, but he was planning to celebrate starting after the contest.

‘Every moment has been special,’ Hamlin said. ‘I really let myself be present in all my moments. I’ve been taking things one day at a time, so just to be out there today is hella special. It really was.’

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University has engaged Jones Day, an international law firm with experience in “sensitive” investigations, to conduct an independent review of allegations brought against former men’s basketball team doctor Brad Bomba Sr.

Bomba, a member of the Marion and Monroe County Halls of Fame who earned All-Big Ten honors in football in 1955, served for decades as a contracted physician working with several IU Athletics programs, most notably men’s basketball. His time working with the university concluded in the late 1990s.

According to an official university statement released Wednesday afternoon, “the university recently received a letter from legal counsel on behalf of a former IU men’s basketball student-athlete, who competed at IU several decades ago.”

“The letter includes specific allegations against Dr. Brad Bomba, Sr.,” the statement reads in part. “The former student-athlete alleges that he was subjected to inappropriate prostate and rectal exams during annual physicals with Dr. Bomba, Sr., something that he also alleges was a practice for all student-athletes assigned to Dr. Bomba, Sr., for physical examinations.”

Per the statement, the university has charged Jones Day — which it also suggests has experience in “similar” investigations — with conducting what the statement describes as an independent review of those allegations.

Jones Day worked with Michigan State University on aspects of its investigation into the circumstances that eventually led to football coach Mel Tucker’s dismissal, specifically whether anyone at the university leaked the name of the woman who initially accused Tucker of sexual harassment.

IU’s statement asserted the review will include: “witness interviews, a review of available documentation and engagement with medical experts to determine: 1) the background facts related to the annual physicals of IU student athletes conducted by Dr. Bomba, Sr.; 2) if the conduct was appropriate, necessary, or within the standard of care; and 3) what medical professionals and athletic department or university officials were aware of the conduct and, if warranted, what action did they take.”

Jones Day has established a phone number (888-392-2296) and an email address (iuinvestigation@jonesday.com) for anyone wishing to contribute information throughout the review process. Anonymity can be granted, per the statement.

“This is a fully independent and comprehensive investigation that will follow the facts,” the statement reads. “Indiana University will abide by its findings any take any warranted actions.”

A graduate of IU’s medical school, Bomba served the athletics department for several decades. He acted as team physician for the 1967 Rose Bowl team, and the 1984 U.S. Olympic basketball team Bob Knight coached to a gold medal in Los Angeles.

He was also team physician at Bloomington High School South, per his Monroe County Sports Hall of Fame biography, and he served for a time as chairman of sports medicine for the Indiana State Medical Association. Bomba was licensed to practice medicine in Indiana from 1961-2013 according to mylicense.in.gov.

The Buffalo Bills (1-0) will travel to the heat and humidity of Miami to take on the Dolphins (1-0) at Hard Rock Stadium to open the second week of the season.

Although it’s just Week 2, this matchup has more than pride on the line as both the Bills and Dolphins have their sights on the AFC East crown this season. With both teams entering the matchup following comeback wins in their season openers, neither team can be counted out of the game until there’s no time left on the clock. 

After a left-hand injury concern during Buffalo’s Week 1 opener, the Bills have cleared QB Josh Allen for Thursday’s game.

Allen was instrumental in Buffalo’s come-from-behind 38-24 win Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. After a sluggish start to the season that saw the Bills fall behind 17-3, Allen scored a rushing touchdown seconds before halftime. Buffalo then went on to command the field with 14 unanswered points in the third quarter to retake control of the game.

His versatility will be useful against a strong Miami defense that recorded a shutout in the second half of its Week 1 game.

Meanwhile, Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa led the NFL in passing yards last season and got right back to his old self, leading the league again in Week 1 passing yards. In Miami’s win over the Jaguars, Tagovailoa had one carry for 11 yards and completed 23 of 37 passes (62.2%) for 338 yards and one touchdown, including an 80-yard touchdown pass to Hill to kickstart Miami’s comeback.

Hill has been at the center of this week’s headlines after police pulled him over, forcefully removed him from his car and detained him ahead of Miami’s season opener. Despite the incident, hours later, Hill recorded seven receptions for 130 yards — second in the league only to the Packers’ wide receiver Jayden Reed — to re-energize Miami’s stagnant offense and ultimately secure his team’s opening win. Against Buffalo, Hill’s unmatched speed on the field will be a decisive part of any offensive success for the Dolphins. Chiles made an appearance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards in New York on Wednesday, one month after she was stripped of an Olympic bronze medal in floor exercise at the 2024 Paris Games, an ordeal she described as ‘devastating’ and ‘unjust.’ After the controversial announcement was made, rapper Flavor Flav took to X and vowed to gift Chiles a bronze clock necklace, ‘something NO ONE else has,’ he wrote.

He made good on his promise on Wednesday.

‘I know they tried to take your medal away from you, but you know what? I got you something that they can’t take away from you,’ Flavor Flav said before unveiling the one-of-a-kind pendant.

He hung it around Chiles’ neck as the crowd at UBS Arena applauded. The gesture left Chiles speechless.

Earlier Wednesday, Chiles attended the Forbes Power Women’s Summit and opened up about how her “heart was broken” after she was stripped of her Olympic bronze medal. She said the last five weeks have taken a toll on her.

“The biggest thing that was taken from me was,” Chiles said, before pausing to gather herself, “it was the recognition of who I was. Not just my sport, but the person I am.

“It’s not about the medal,” she added. “It’s about my skin color. It’s about the fact there were things that have led up to this position of being an athlete. And I felt like everything has been stripped. I felt like when I was back in 2018 where I did lose the love of the sport, I lost it again.”

Chiles initially finished fifth in the floor final on Aug. 5 behind Romanians Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Maneca-Voinea. Chiles’ coach appealed her difficulty score, arguing Chiles had not been given full credit for a tour jete, a leap. A review panel agreed, and the additional 0.100 elevated the American ahead of both Romanians into third place. Romania appealed, challenging the timing of Chiles’ inquiry. On the final day of the Paris Games, six days after the event final, the International Gymnastics Federation announced it was re-ordering the floor exercise results after the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled Chiles’ scoring inquiry had been submitted too late.

The International Olympic Committee then declared Barbosu of Romania the bronze medalist.

USA Gymnastics said video found after the CAS ruling showed coach Cecile Landi had, in fact, made the inquiry in time. But the CAS said it could not be considered after the fact.

The Bills and Dolphins were two of the three NFL teams to earn Week 1 wins despite trailing by 14 points in their respective contests − something that hadn’t happened in the season’s opening week for 45 years.

Buffalo logged its comeback in a 34-28 offensive slugfest against the Arizona Cardinals, during which Josh Allen totaled four touchdowns. The veteran quarterback also posted a 137.7 passer rating in the contest − third best in the NFL for the week − and quelled concerns from any fans worried about the impact the Stefon Diggs trade might have on Allen’s productivity.

Meanwhile, Miami endured a slow start against the Jacksonville Jaguars in a game that began just hours after Tyreek Hill was detained by Miami-Dade police en route to the stadium.

The Dolphins woke up in the second half and flipped the game when safety Jevon Holland stripped Jaguars running back Travis Etienne just before the fourth-year pro could get to the end-zone. Etienne’s turnover was followed by an 80-yard touchdown strike from Tua Tagovailoa to Hill that began Miami’s scoring run.

The Dolphins outscored the Jaguars 13-0 in the second half to earn a 20-17 victory, and Miami will look to carry that defensive dominance over to their short-week game against the Bills.

The Bills (1-0) and Dolphins (1-0) are playing in Amazon Prime’s first ‘Thursday Night Football’ game of the season in Week 2.

Buffalo enters the game with a clear-cut advantage, as Josh Allen sports a 10-2 career record against the Dolphins as a starter. That includes a run of four consecutive wins, including the Bills’ 34-31 victory over their division rival during the 2023 NFL playoffs.

However, Allen is dealing with a hand injury that Buffalo’s medical staff will be monitoring closely. The malady is in Allen’s non-throwing hand, and he said he was ‘fine’ after the Bills’ win over the Cardinals. That makes him likely to suit up against the Dolphins, though his overall health and ability to grip the ball will still bear watching given the rapid turnaround from Week 1 to Week 2.

The Dolphins should feel hopeful about snapping the Bills’ winning streak against them for reasons beyond Allen’s injury. Buffalo’s defense and special teams units allowed the Cardinals to score 28 points and seemed to have issues containing fast, shifty players like Kyler Murray and Greg Dortch. That should give Hill and Jaylen Waddle a chance to rip off some big plays.

NFL fans should expect a high-scoring game to kickstart the ‘TNF’ slate. The Bills and Dolphins have combined for at least 61 points in three of their last four meetings; if Allen is at or close to a full go, the two teams should have a chance to match that feat once again.

Shohei Ohtani led off with one of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ four home runs in the first inning and Tommy Edman went deep twice in the game as the host Dodgers held off the Chicago Cubs for a 10-8 victory on Wednesday.

Edman, Will Smith and Max Muncy belted home runs in the opening inning, all in succession against left-hander Jordan Wicks, as the first-place Dodgers avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of the Cubs. Edman hit one home run from each side of the plate.

Ohtani, who also stole a base, has 47 home runs to go along with 48 steals as he closes in on the first 50-50 season in major league history.

The Dodgers (87-59) remained five games up on the second-place Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West. Los Angeles moved 5½ games up on the third-place San Diego Padres.

Seiya Suzuki and Cody Bellinger hit home runs for the Cubs. Bellinger’s three-run home run in a four-run fifth inning helped rally Chicago into a 7-7 tie.

The Cubs (75-71) fell five games behind the New York Mets in the chase for the final NL wild-card spot.

The Cubs took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Isaac Paredes hit an RBI single and former Dodger Michael Busch followed with a run-scoring double.

Ohtani’s sixth leadoff homer of the season came on Wicks’ fourth pitch of the game. No. 47 on the year tied him with Bellinger for third on the Dodgers’ single-season homer list, behind only Shawn Green (49 in 2001) and Adrian Beltre (48 in 2004).

Edman hit a two-run shot for a 3-2 lead, and Smith followed with his 18th and Muncy hit his 14th.

Suzuki went deep for the Cubs in the third inning, his 20th, before Ohtani’s two-run single in the bottom of the frame gave the Dodgers a 7-3 lead.

The Cubs tied the game in the fifth inning when Bellinger homered and Pete Crow-Armstrong added an RBI single. It was Bellinger’s 17th of the season and second against his former club in three games.

The Dodgers got a tiebreaking hit from Gavin Lux in the seventh off Shawn Armstrong (3-3).

Edman hit his second home run of the game in the eighth inning. Edman has four homers in the past two days after he had none in 19 prior major leagues games this year.

Wicks was charged with seven runs on eight hits over three innings with four walks and two strikeouts.

Dodgers starter Bobby Miller gave up six runs on five hits over 4⅓ innings, with four walks and two strikeouts.

Alex Vesia (3-4) earned the win after throwing one scoreless inning. Michael Kopech recorded his 13th save despite walking three batters and allowing a sacrifice fly by Paredes in the ninth.

The tightest races to watch in the final weeks include the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees battling for first place in the American League East and the National League wild-card, which features four teams separated by just a few games for three spots.
