The once solidly ‘neutral’ Nordic nations in Northern Europe are taking precautions to ready their citizens to be able to cope under war-like conditions as the security apparatus on the continent continues to deteriorate amid the war in Ukraine.

Sweden on Monday issued pamphlets to millions giving directions on what to do in the event that war breaks out or the nation is hit with an unexpected crisis.

The booklet, dubbed ‘In case of crisis or war,’ has not only been updated from its previous version six years ago due to the worsening security situation in Europe, but it was also expanded and is nearly twice the size, reported the BBC.

Issuing preparedness booklets out to its citizens is not new for Sweden, which has followed this practice since World War II when its first version titled ‘If War Comes’ was reportedly distributed.

The guidance was updated during the Cold War, but one directive apparently highlighted in the middle of the booklet has been pushed forward noting that, ‘If Sweden is attacked by another country, we will never give up. All information to the effect that resistance is to cease is false.’

Sweden, like Finland before it, joined NATO earlier this year after first announcing its bid to do so in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Sweden’s Civil Defense Minister Carl-Oskar Bohlin has also been sounding the alarm that ‘there could be war in Sweden’ in a move to urge officials to bolster Stockholm’s defenses faster.

Unlike Sweden, neighboring Finland maintained a stronger defensive posture given its shared border with Russia, despite maintaining a decades-long neutrality status following World War II.

But Finland, which joined NATO in 2023, also distributed its crisis preparedness on Monday, though its guidance was released by means of a digital copy for its citizens due to the cost of printing the booklets, noted the BBC.

The Finnish government said it is ‘well-prepared for self-defense’ and assured its citizens that hostile parties threatening Helsinki does not necessarily mean it will be presented through direct military force, noting that in the event of an emergency the Finns should be prepared in case of long power or water outages, as well as disruptions to banking or internet services.

Similarly, Norway, which was a NATO founding member in 1949, released a pamphlet urging Norwegians to be prepared to cope for up to a week in the event of war, crises or extreme weather.

Over 2 million copies were sent out, urging citizens to have canned foods, pasta, pet food, water, matches, candles, first aid kits and medicines in store, including iodine tablets.

‘The tablets can protect against radioactive iodine in the event of nuclear accidents and must only be taken on instruction from the authorities,’ the Norwegian government said in its instructions.

Denmark also encouraged its citizens over the summer to ensure they had three-days’ worth of essential items in store to help get through a crisis situation.

Western leaders continue to monitor Russia’s war in Ukraine very closely, and have warned Moscow that any attack on a NATO nation will result in a united response from all 32 nations.

Trump Media is reportedly in “advanced talks” to buy the cryptocurrency trading firm Bakkt, the Financial Times reported Monday, citing two people with knowledge of the talks.

The news sent shares of both companies soaring.

Trump Media, which is majority-owned by President-elect Donald Trump, shot up by double digits minutes after the FT report was published.

The company, which operates the Truth Social app and trades on the Nasdaq as DJT, closed more than 16% higher.

Shares of Bakkt — which was created by Intercontinental Exchange, the owner of the New York Stock Exchange — skyrocketed more than 162% amid repeated trading halts due to volatility.

Kelly Loeffler, a previous CEO of Bakkt, is the co-chair of Trump’s inauguration committee.

Loeffler, who is married to Intercontinental Exchange CEO Jeffrey Sprecher, left as Bakkt’s top executive in 2019 when Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp appointed her to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Sen. Johnny Isakson, who resigned due to health reasons.

Loeffler was defeated by Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock in a runoff for a special election for her Senate seat.

Trump Media has seen its market value rise and fall by billions of dollars in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election, as retail investors bet on the Republican’s momentum and political prospects.

While Trump Media has reported a $363 million net loss on revenues of just $2.6 million so far this year, it boasts a market cap above $7 billion.

A Trump Media spokeswoman did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

Alex Ovechkin’s chase of Wayne Gretzky’s goal record is temporarily on hold after the Washington Capitals star left Monday night’s game with an injury.

The team announced Tuesday that Ovechkin is week-to-week with an injury to his lower leg after he absorbed a leg-on-leg hit from Utah Hockey Club forward Jack McBain during the third period.

Ovechkin had been on a torrid scoring pace this season. Before Monday’s injury, he had scored twice in the 6-2 win over Utah, giving him five goals in the last two games and a league-leading 15 goals in 18 games.

Here’s what we know about Ovechkin’s injury:

Alex Ovechkin injury update

The Capitals announced that team doctors would examine Ovechkin further on Wednesday in Washington. For now, he is listed as week-to-back with a lower-leg injury.

The Capitals play seven games over the next two weeks.

‘You hate to see it,’ teammate Nick Dowd told reporters after Monday’s game. ‘He’s been absolutely on fire and he’s huge for our team.’

How was Alex Ovechkin hurt?

McBain inadvertently hit Ovechkin in the leg, and the Capitals star fell to the ice at 5:30 of the third period.

Ovechkin struggled to get to the bench, tested the leg with a short twirl on the ice during a TV timeout then went to the dressing room. He didn’t return.

Washington’s Tom Wilson fought with McBain late in the third period.

Alex Ovechkin injury history

According to Capitals Outsider, Ovechkin has missed only 59 games in his 20-season career. Of those, 35 were because of injury. The others were for suspensions and personal or other reasons. He missed three games last season because of injury.

Where does Alex Ovechkin stand in the Wayne Gretzky record chase?

Ovechkin has 868 goals and needs 27 more to break Gretzky’s record of 894 career goals. That record has stood since Gretzky retired in 1999. Ovechkin has another year on his contract beyond this season.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen took off from the 26-yard line, gripping the football precariously with his right hand.

With a head of steam, he bounced off several Kansas City Chiefs defenders in his path and into the end zone for a game-clinching touchdown in the Bills’ 30-21 win on Sunday.

Buffalo ended Kansas City’s bid for an undefeated season, handing the Chiefs their first loss in 16 games. Kansas City’s last loss, including the playoffs, was Dec. 17, 2023.

Was it enough to elevate Allen, who has never won NFL MVP, back on top of the MVP conversation?

Here’s our USA TODAY NFL MVP rankings after Week 11:

NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.

Jayden Daniels out of MVP Top 5

Daniels, the dynamic Washington Commanders rookie quarterback, has fallen out of our Top 5 following last Thursday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Washington has lost two straight for the first time this season, and relinquished the lead in the NFC East. Still, there’s plenty of season left for Daniels and the Commanders (7-4) to turn it around, including Sunday’s game against the lowly Dallas Cowboys.

5. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, stock up

A new star has entered our Top 5: Welcome, Jalen Hurts. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has helped orchestrate a six-game winning streak, and the lead in the NFC East.

Hurts is second in the NFL with 11 rushing touchdowns, one more than his dynamic running back Saquon Barkley this season, while trailing Baltimore Ravens star tailback Derrick Henry (13).

Hurts is in the Top 10 with a 69.2 completion percentage, 101.8 passer rating, 62.4 QBR, while adding 12 touchdown passes for the 8-2 Eagles, who have a chance to compete for the No. 1 seed in the NFC with the Detroit Lions.

4. Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, stock down

The Chiefs suffered the first loss of the season to the Bills last Sunday, unable to rely on the late-game magic they have to win 15 straight before Sunday’s defeat.

Mahomes was 23-for-33 for 196 yards with three touchdowns, but had two interceptions in the loss.

Still, Kansas City has the NFL’s best record and the No. 1 seed in the AFC. They’ll likely get back on track, facing the Carolina Panthers and Las Vegas Raiders in the next two games.

3. Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, stock down

Jackson was left frustrated after the Ravens suffered the fourth loss of the season, 18-16 to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week.

Jackson floundered during the Ravens’ 2-point attempt to tie the game with about a minute left. The play resulted in Jackson chucking the football in the air with no real target in the end zone.

The loss also gave the Steelers a two-game lead in the AFC North over the Ravens.

Still, Jackson is first in the NFL with a 117.3 passer rating, and second with 2,876 passing yards, 25 touchdown passes, and a 75.1 QBR. The Ravens are also second in the NFL with 41 touchdowns this season.

2. Lions QB Jared Goff, stock even

We went back and forth whether Jackson should own the No. 2 spot. But Goff deserved his credit, too.

Goff continued with another efficient outing: 24 for 29 for 412 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-6 blowout over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. He leads the NFL with a 73.0 completion percentage, and thrown 20 touchdowns as the Lions lead the NFL with 42 touchdowns this season.

The Lions are 9-1 and remain the best team in the NFC through Week 11.

1. Bills QB Josh Allen, stock up

It’s hard to deny Allen for the top spot in our MVP rankings after taking down the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL last week.

Allen showed why he’s most valuable to the Bills with his game-winning touchdown run to beat the Chiefs.

The Bills are 9-2, and have won six games in a row. Their win over the Chiefs opens the window for Buffalo to compete for the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoff picture, if Kansas City slips up again at some point this season.

The stage is also set for Allen, who could win his first NFL MVP this season.

NEW YORK — U.S. Soccer received a $30 million dollar gift from businesswoman and Washington Spirit owner Michele Kang, the organization announced Tuesday.

The donation, which will be dispersed over the next five years, is the largest ever given to U.S. Soccer’s women’s and girls’ programs and is the largest gifted by a woman to the organization. It will be used to expand and improve the talent pool in soccer and provide professional development for female players, coaches and referees.

‘Michele Kang’s gift will transform soccer for women and girls in the United States,’ said U.S. Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone in a statement. ‘It will impact generations of women and girls in our game, including players, coaches, and referees. I know firsthand the power soccer can have in someone’s life and thanks to Michele, we will be able to provide more support and opportunities for women and girls.’

What Michele Kang’s donation means for U.S. Soccer

The donation to the organization is set to have an immediate impact on soccer in the United States. U.S. Soccer said it would double the number of National Team camps it has, with funding going directly to camps for women and girls.

The investment will also give access to 100,000 female players, an important step to keeping the player pipeline strong. The United States women’s national team has won five Women’s World Cup titles and five Olympic gold medals, including winning the tournament in Paris this past summer.

The money will also have an impact on coaches and officials, more than doubling the number of female coaches and referees in the game to 70,000.

Who is Michele Kang?

The 65-year-old, South Korea-born Kang was the founder and chief executive of Cognosante, a health information technology company that was acquired earlier this year by IT services management company Accenture Federal Services.

Kang became a majority owner of Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League in 2022, making her the first minority woman to purchase a team in the league. She also owns Olympique Lyonnais Féminin in France and the London City Lionesses women’s soccer club.

Her philanthropy goes beyond soccer, as she donated $4 million to U.S. women’s rugby sevens ahead of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. The women’s rugby team won a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, the first Olympic medal ever won in that sport. Kang also launched Kynisca this year, parent company for her sports teams and innovation in the women’s game. She gave $50 million to her Kynisca Innovation Hub, a significant investment toward medical, technological and cultural advancements in women’s sports.

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham sent a letter to each of the 51 former intelligence officials who signed a memo suggesting the Hunter Biden laptop had the hallmarks of Russian disinformation.

‘In your letter, you claimed that the laptop story was ‘Russia trying to influence how Americans vote,’’ Graham’s letter read to former CIA directors Leon Panetta and Michael Hayden, former Director of National Intelligence [DNI] James Clapper and 48 others.

‘I ask you to respond publicly to one simple question: if you knew then what you know now about the laptop, would you still have signed the October 19, 2020 letter?’

Graham, a Republican, has previously suggested yanking the security clearances of officials who signed the letter.

Vice President-elect JD Vance pledged during the campaign that the incoming Trump administration would strip the clearances of all 51 signatories.

Over the summer, Fox News Digital asked all 51 officials whether they regretted signing on to the now-debunked letter.

‘No,’ Obama-era DNI James Clapper responded.

Mark Zaid, an attorney representing seven of the signatories, said it was ‘patriotic’ for his clients to sign on to the letter.

‘There continues to be by many a calculated or woefully ignorant interpretation of the October 2020 letter signed by fifty-one former intelligence officials concerning Hunter Biden’s laptop,’ Zaid said.

Greg Treverton, a signatory who previously served as chair of the National Intelligence Council, defended the letter in a statement to Fox News Digital.

‘This is very old news,’ Treverton said. ‘What we said was true, we were inferring from our experience, and it did look like a Russian operation. We didn’t, and couldn’t, of course, say it was a Russian operation. Enough said.’

The now-infamous letter had said their national security experience had made them ‘deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role in this case.’

‘If we are right,’ they added, ‘this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this.’

Despite claims from former officials that the laptop had the hallmarks of Russian disinformation, Fox News Digital reported that federal investigators with the Department of Justice knew in December 2019 that Hunter Biden’s laptop was ‘not manipulated in any way’ and contained ‘reliable evidence,’ but were ‘obstructed’ from seeing all available information, according to an IRS whistleblower involved in the probe – nearly a year before the former intelligence officials and President Joe Biden declared it was part of a Russian disinformation campaign.

The laptop was introduced into evidence in a Delaware courtroom last week by prosecutor Derek Hines and handed to FBI agent Erika Jensen, who had earlier explained how the FBI authenticated the laptop and extracted data. In the gun trial, she testified about dozens of text messages, metadata, photos and short videos found on phones and iCloud accounts belonging to Hunter Biden.

Discouraging Americans from being vaccinated is ‘very disturbing’ and would result in ‘more severe illness and death in children,’ a top U.S. health official told lawmakers Tuesday following President-elect Trump’s nomination of Robert F. Kennedy to lead the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

National Institutes of Health Director Monica Bertagnolli made the comments after Rep. Lois Frankel, D-Fla., told her that she’s concerned ‘there’s been some talk by some who might have leadership positions in next administration of discouraging vaccination.

‘Could you tell me what would be the downside if our children specifically were not vaccinated?’ Frankel asked Bertagnolli.

‘If you go back 100 years ago, the leading cause of death – and it was dramatic – was infectious disease. And why did that change? Vaccination, that is the single reason,’ Bertagnolli told the House Appropriations Committee.

‘And it’s been even in my career, my lifetime that I have also seen individuals who unfortunately were in the womb when their mother got rubella – terrible congenital malformations that happened. So it’s not just the consequences even for the individual – it can be mother to child and then finally across society when we see the spread of infectious disease,’ Bertagnolli continued.

‘What we will see immediately if all vaccination suddenly stops, we will see much more severe illness and death in children,’ she also said.

Kennedy rose to prominence as a skeptic of vaccines, voicing concerns about their impact.

‘Look around the world because there are other places in the world that have this, that do not have widespread vaccination of their populations, and look at the tragedies that we see there. I think it would be very disturbing,’ Bertagnolli added Tuesday.

U.S. Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., has called the choice of RFK Jr. to lead HHS ‘f—— insane.’

‘The RFK as Health Secretary appointment is f—— insane,’ he wrote on X. ‘He’s a vaccine denier and a tin foil hat conspiracy theorist. He will destroy our public health infrastructure and our vaccine distribution systems. This is going to cost lives.’

Kennedy aligned with Trump after ending his own independent run for president, and Trump added the promise ‘make America healthy again’ to his campaign.

House Speaker Mike Johnson declined to answer whether transgender Rep-elect Sarah McBride, D-Del., is a man or a woman, vowing to ‘treat all persons with dignity and respect.’

At the House GOP weekly press conference on Tuesday, a reporter asked Johnson, ‘Is freshman elect Sarah McBride a man or a woman?’

‘Look, I’m not going to get into this. We welcome all new members with open arms who are duly elected representatives of the people,’ Johnson responded. ‘I believe it’s a… command that we treat all persons with dignity and respect, and we will. And I’m not going to engage in… silly debates about this. There’s a concern about uses of restroom facilities and locker rooms and all that. This is an issue that Congress has never had to address before. And we’re going to do that in a deliberate fashion, with member consensus on it. And we will accommodate the needs of every single person.’

Fox News Radio Capitol Hill and White House correspondent Ryan Schmelz posed a follow-up question to Johnson, asking if he plans on bringing up a resolution brought by Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., to ban transgender women from using women’s restrooms at the U.S. Capitol ‘and putting that into the rules package’?

‘I’m not going to address the plans on any of that,’ Johnson said. ‘I just told you what I’m going to say about the issue. I’m not going to engage in this. We don’t look down upon anyone. We treat everybody with dignity and respect. That’s a principle that I’ve pursued my whole life. And we will take care of this, you know, issue – a first impression for Congress – as we will any other thing. We will provide the appropriate accommodation for every member of Congress.’

Mace introduced a resolution on Monday that moves to prohibit members, officers and employees of the House from using ‘single-sex facilities other than those corresponding to their biological sex.’ It asserts that ‘allowing biological males into single-sex facilities, such as restrooms, locker rooms, and changing rooms designed for women jeopardizes the safety and dignity of Members, officers, and employees of the House who are female.’

In X posts on Monday, McBride derided the resolution as ‘a blatant attempt from far right-wing extremists to distract from the fact that they have no real solutions to what Americans are facing.’

‘Every day Americans go to work with people who have life journeys different than their own and engage with them respectfully, I hope members of Congress can muster that same kindness,’ McBride wrote.

‘The radical left is calling me an extremist for being a feminist fighting to protect the rights of women and girls,’ Mace said in a follow-up video message shared to X on Tuesday. ‘If being a feminist makes me an extremist or bigot or a monster, I am totally here for it because I am going to fight like hell for every woman and every little girl across this country to protect you and to keep you safe.’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., said Tuesday that she asked the men in the House Republican Conference what they were going to do to prevent biological males from using spaces reserved for biological females at the U.S. Capitol.

‘You know, Sarah McBride, as he calls himself, formerly Tim McBride, is a biological man, and he should not be using any of our restrooms in the Capitol, and that in our office buildings. But Nancy Mace’s resolution doesn’t go far enough,’ Greene told reporters. ‘America gave a mandate at this election and said, not only are they sick of the open borders, the invasion, the out of control inflation, foreign wars, but they’re sick of the trans ideology being shoved down our throats. And it’s an attack on women and children all over the country.’

Meanwhile, Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., told reporters that the Democratic caucus supports McBride ‘100%,’ and condemned the resolution brought by Mace.

‘It’s just disgusting,’ Garcia told reporters. ‘I was actually sick to my stomach when I read that yesterday. And I think it’s really unfortunate that someone is being attacked. She just got to Congress. She is going to use whatever restroom that she needs to use. This is just sick that we’re having to have this conversationn… I’ve heard disgust, to be honest, on both sides of the aisle. And so I hope that this just moves forward and let’s let her legislate and move on.’

Dental care supplier Henry Schein advanced in Monday trading as investors bet that Robert F. Kennedy Jr., President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for Health and Human Services secretary, could recommend removing fluoride from the U.S. water system, a move that would lead to a boom in dental visits.

Shares of Henry Schein shares jumped nearly 5%, on track for its best day since July. Fellow dental product makers Dentsply Sirona and Envista also edged higher in the session.

Monday’s moves come as investors ready for public health changes under a second Trump administration. Kennedy posted on X before the presidential election this month that a “Trump White House will advise all U.S. water systems to remove fluoride from public water.”

Fluoride has long been shown as an effective method for fighting cavities. But the mineral has found itself at the center of a nationwide fight that’s led some local communities to end programs centered on its insertion into public water.

While Kennedy will need to win Senate approval to take the job, market participants are already zeroing in on a group of stocks that make dental hygiene products as potential beneficiaries of his policies. That’s because taking fluoride out of water would actually put the tooth cleaning industry in higher demand as consumers look elsewhere to fight cavities, according to firm Gordon Haskett.

“The thought here is RFK will bring to HHS a voice that is in favor of reducing, or eliminating, the amount of fluoridation that is added to drinking water,” Don Bilson, Gordon Haskett’s head of event-driven research, told clients in a Monday note. “This will, in turn, lead to an acceleration of tooth decay and more dental visits.”

Given this, Henry Schein and other stocks in the space offer a bright spot within a sector that has largely struggled since the election. The Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) has tumbled around 3.5% in November, putting it on track for its first three-month losing steak since last year. By comparison, the broad S&P 500 has climbed more than 3% in the month.

Gordon Haskett’s Bilson also pointed out that dental stocks were some of the few “spared” health-focused equities as investors responded to the announcement of Kennedy’s nomination last week. Pharmaceutical names were under pressure given Kennedy’s reputation as a vaccine skeptic, while processed food stocks took a hit as traders geared up for increased scrutiny of so-called junk food.

“It caused widespread selling across the healthcare landscape,” Bilson said of the decision to select Kennedy. “Drugmakers, contract research organizations, and health insurers all felt the quake. Rather than stop there, the damage spilled into packaged foods. And advertising.”

While the market appears to be moving on Kennedy’s nomination, Bilson said that regulatory changes would likely take years to come into effect. He also noted that drinking water should fall more under the Environmental Protection Agency than Health and Human Services.

Georgia will rise in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings at Tennessee’s expense, while Brigham Young should fall behind Boise State after Saturday night’s loss to Kansas.

The playoff selection committee already established the value of head-to-head results in sorting through two-loss SEC teams. Despite last weekend’s 31-17 win against the Volunteers, don’t look for the Bulldogs to move back ahead of Alabama and Mississippi.

BYU was No. 6 in last week’s rankings but should drop seven or more spots after losing 17-13 to Kansas. While the Cougars would very likely leapfrog Boise State should they beat Colorado to win the Big 12, that the Broncos will be ahead in Tuesday night’s rankings suggests a Group of Five team could earn an opening-round playoff bye.

Don’t look for any changes in the top five after Oregon survived a scare against Wisconsin. Teams behind the Volunteers and Cougars a week ago should just take two-spot leaps up the rankings, making this one of the simpler weeks for the committee.

1. Oregon (11-0)

Oregon could’ve lost to Wisconsin and still stayed No. 1 in the rankings thanks to last month’s win against Ohio State. The 16-13 win against the Badgers was just the Ducks’ second Big Ten game decided by fewer than 21 points and the third game overall, joining the Buckeyes and a non-conference win against Boise State. That one-two punch of wins is hard to top.

2. Ohio State (9-1)

The big question going into Saturday’s matchup with Indiana is whether the Buckeyes can lose and still make the playoff. The answer is complicated at this point, since whether two-loss Ohio State is a contender depends on how things shake out in the SEC. In the case of a competitive loss, the Buckeyes would point to close games against the best teams in the Big Ten and a win against Penn State. That might be enough to get four teams from the conference into the playoff.

CALM DOWN: The five biggest overreactions from Week 12

3. Texas (9-1)

Texas is the top-ranked team from the SEC by virtue of being the only one-loss team in the SEC. That underscores a really important point: While in the lead at this point, a paltry résumé of wins and a weaker strength of schedule could dump the Longhorns from the driver’s seat to out of the playoff altogether with a loss to Texas A&M in the season finale.

4. Penn State (9-1)

Penn State remains in great shape for an at-large bid after rebounding from its Ohio State loss with a pair of blowout wins against Washington and Purdue. The Nittany Lions next face a big road test against Minnesota, which had won four in a row before falling to Rutgers. This seems to be the only spot that can trip them up on way to the playoff.

5. Indiana (10-0)

Let’s reverse the same question as before: Is Indiana in with a loss to Ohio State? Again, it can be complicated. A narrow loss should be enough to keep the Hoosiers in the thick of an at-large bid given that the committee clearly respects what they’ve done and how they’ve looked during this unbeaten start. But a blowout could force the committee to address a schedule that includes just one win against a team currently with a winning record.

6. Notre Dame (9-1)

That Louisville and Navy have dropped off the map isn’t great news for Notre Dame, but that should only come into play with a loss to Army or Southern California to end the year. The Irish have averaged 42.9 points per game during this active eight-game winning streak.

7. Miami (9-1)

Clemson’s win against Pittsburgh confirmed that Miami has to win out against Wake Forest and Syracuse to make the ACC championship game. Given their lack of marquee wins, the Hurricanes are not a viable at-large contender without at least playing for the conference title.

8. Alabama (8-2)

Alabama won’t move ahead of Miami after a meaningless win against Mercer. Nor will the Crimson Tide move back despite Missouri and LSU likely falling out of the rankings. Tennessee’s loss leaves the Tide in great position to play for the SEC crown should they not falter at Oklahoma and in the Iron Bowl against Auburn.

9. Mississippi (8-2)

Florida rallying against a brutal schedule is good news for the Rebels, who need to bolster their win against Georgia with victories against Power Four bowl teams. South Carolina and the Bulldogs are already locked into the postseason while Florida, Oklahoma and Arkansas are one win away from bowl eligibility.

10. Georgia (8-2)

Beating Tennessee will vault the Bulldogs back into the committee’s current bracket ahead of games against Massachusetts and Georgia Tech to end the regular season. While not likely to reach the SEC championship, Georgia could finish third in the final conference standings and host a game in the opening round.
