Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders — while not totally ruling out potentially serving as former President Donald Trump’s running mate — is making it clear that she plans to run for re-election in 2026.

‘I love Arkansas and I feel like I just got started here with one year in office,’ Sanders said Monday while delivering remarks at the Arkansas Christian Schools Summit. ‘There’s a long list of things I want to make happen.’

With Trump being the commanding frontrunner in the Republican presidential race — winning both the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary — anticipation is growing over who the former president would pick as his running mate. Sanders often appears in speculative lists.

Sanders, the daughter of Fox News host and former longtime Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, was White House press secretary in Trump’s administration.

Now serving as Arkansas’ first female governor and a prominent GOP political figure, she is considered to be one of many names on a long list of potential running mates for Trump.

Sanders has openly endorsed Trump and is campaigning on his behalf, but amid rumors of rejoining his administration, affirmed her plans to run for re-election as governor.

A source in the governor’s political orbit also told Fox News on Wednesday that ‘she is very, very happy with what she’s doing.’

On Monday, Sanders also said, ‘I’m very biased in what I hope happens in the election. I’m going to do everything within my power to see that Donald Trump gets re-elected, but I look forward to serving as governor for seven years.’

Trump said he has already decided on his 2024 running mate during a recent Fox News townhall, but did not give any hints as to who that might be.

Among the other rumored VP picks are South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem; Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C.; Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio; and Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y.

House Democratic Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, is accusing the Academy Awards of sexism over the exclusion of the film ‘Barbie’ from the Best Director category.

The congressman added a high-profile voice to the internet’s progressive-fueled outrage over director Greta Gerwig not getting a mention for the 2023 summer hit.

‘Hollywood still has a big problem with women. In 2022, women made up 11% of directors (of top 250 grossing films),’ Castro wrote on X.

‘So in 2023 Greta Gerwig: 1. Directs Barbie, year’s highest grossing film at $1.4B; 2. Provides coattails to Oppenheimer ($1B); 3. Saves [Warner Bros. Discovery’s] disastrous year.’

He concluded, ‘How do you end up directing the biggest hit of the year, a cultural phenomenon, and not get an Oscar nomination for best director? Be a female director in Hollywood, apparently.’

But he wasn’t the only national Democratic figure to chime in; Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton chimed in with a message to the movie’s lead actress and director.

‘Greta & Margot, While it can sting to win the box office but not take home the gold, your millions of fans love you. You’re both so much more than Kenough,’ Clinton wrote on X.

‘Barbie,’ along with Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer,’ was credited with saving the movie industry from a lingering post-COVID slump.

It was nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Actor for Ryan Gosling, who played the titular doll’s boyfriend Ken, and a Supporting Actress nod for America Ferrera.

But left-wing activists complained at the lack of a nod for both Gerwig and the movie’s lead actress, Margot Robbie.

Fox News Digital reached out to Castro’s office and the Academy for comment.

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (stock symbol: AMD) is one stock that met several positive trading criteria during Wednesday’s trading. The stock price hit a new 52-week high and moved above its upper Bollinger Band®, its upper price channel, and so on.

The AMD chart below displays a Bollinger Band overlay and the Distance From 52-Week High indicator in the lower panel (available in StockChartsACP).

Scanning the Stock Universe

Identifying stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to invest or trade can be difficult. But, with a little effort, you can develop a method that gives you an acceptable return more often than not.

The good news is that the learning curve isn’t steep. All you need to do is follow these steps:

Create a few different scan criteria. Regularly run the scans. Analyze the filtered stocks or ETFs. Make your entry and exit decisions.

The StockCharts Scan Engine can help you filter out stocks and ETFs that meet specific criteria. There are several predefined scans which are great to start from, but, once you become familiar with the scans, you can tweak them or come up with one compatible with your investment objectives.

For example, when the broader market indexes are hitting new highs, you may want to run the New All-Time Highs, New 52-Week Highs, or any of the scans in the New Highs category.

CHART 2. THE STOCKCHARTS SCAN ENGINE. There are several predefined scans to choose from. Here, you can see the New Highs and New Lows scans.Chart source: StockCharts.com. For educational purposes.

Scanning can do more than identify stocks or ETFs to trade. Seeing how many stocks and ETFs were filtered gives you an idea of the stock market’s breadth. If a relatively large number of stocks are hitting significant highs when the market is hitting new highs, it further confirms the bullish rally. If a few stocks are hitting highs when the market is moving higher, it suggests that the buying pressure is drying up.

Another point to remember is that a stock getting filtered out on a scan doesn’t mean you should blindly buy the stock. You still need to do your due diligence. Let’s look closely at AMD stock and determine if it’s worth the investment and where to set your price targets.

AMD Keeps On Advancing

CHART 3. AMD STOCK RALLIES HIGHER BUT FOR HOW LONG? Keep an eye on volume, relative strength index, and money flow index to identify a buying slowdown. A divergence between price and money flow could indicate an upcoming pullback.Chart source: StockCharts.com. For educational purposes.

Since November, AMD stock’s share value has been moving higher. Looking closely at the AMD price chart above, you’ll see the following price action.

On November 1, the stock price had a wide range day with a spike in volume. Note how the stock performed with respect to the Bollinger Bands.

AMD stock went close to the upper band, pulled back in December, and reversed and broke above the upper band. The stock price walked along the upper band for a while, traded sideways for a few days, and again attempted to reach the upper band.It didn’t quite make it and pulled back and fell below the middle band.On January 6, AMD stock moved above the middle band and touched the upper band before pulling back slightly. On January 17, the stock broke above the upper Bollinger Band and continued trending higher, for the most part.

When is a good time to add AMD to your portfolio? When a stock reaches a new high, it’s natural to think it may be too late to get in. But remember, stocks don’t move higher in a straight line. They pull back, and those pullbacks can present an entry opportunity.

You need to exercise patience if you want to improve your financial well-being.

Looking at the chart of AMD, there were a few times during the uptrend when AMD’s stock price pulled back to the middle Bollinger band and reversed. There’s a chance it could happen again, but maybe not in the next few days. This is where you need to tame the fear of missing out (FOMO). You need to exercise patience if you want to improve your financial well-being.

It also helps to add some indicators to your chart. In our AMD chart, you can see volume overlaid on the price, the relative strength index (RSI), and the money flow index (MFI). Volume is declining as AMD’s share value continues to rise.

How To Recreate the Chart Using SharpCharts

Enter AMD in the symbol box.Select Overlay from the Volume dropdown menu.Select Bollinger Bands under Overlays.Select RSI and Money Flow Index (MFI) in the Indicators section.

It’s also important to note that the RSI is above 70, which puts AMD in overbought territory. The RSI could stay overbought for an extended period, especially if the stock continues to trend higher.

When you turn your attention to the MFI, it’s clear that the money flowing into the stock is declining. This divergence between price and indicator could signal a bearish move ahead.

Setting Your Price Targets

First, add AMD to one of your ChartLists (and if you’re not sure how to create one, check out this link) and review the chart regularly. When you see the stock price sell-off, watch the middle band. If the stock price breaks below the middle band and reverses, check the volume, RSI, and MFI.

If the reversal has momentum, i.e. increasing volume, MFI, and RSI, a good entry point would be just above the middle band.An ideal exit target would be just above the upper band.If the stock falls below the middle band and overall market conditions weaken, you may want to revisit the stock later. Monitoring AMD’s chart doesn’t hurt because it could make a comeback.

The bottom line: Don’t ignore AMD’s stock chart.

U.S. regulators have barred TurboTax maker Intuit Inc. from advertising its services as ‘free’ unless they are free for all customers, or if eligibility is clearly disclosed.

In an opinion and final order issued Monday, the Federal Trade Commission ruled that Intuit engaged in deceptive practices by running ads claiming consumers could file their taxes for free using TurboTax though many people did not qualify for such offerings.

‘The character of the past violations is egregious,’ reads the FTC commissioners’ opinion, which details Intuit ads across TV, radio and online over the years. ‘Intuit blanketed the country with deceptive ads to taxpayers across multiple media channels.’

In addition to prohibiting Intuit from marketing its products or services as free unless there’s actually no cost for everyone, the FTC’s order requires Intuit to disclose what percentage of consumers are eligible and note if a majority of taxpayers do not qualify.

Terms and conditions to obtain a free good or service must also be clearly disclosed or linked to if ad space is limited, the FTC said in its order. The order also bars Intuit from “misrepresenting any material facts about its products or services,” including refund policies and price points.

In a statement sent to The Associated Press on Tuesday, Intuit said it had appealed what it called the FTC’s “deeply flawed decision.”

“This decision is the result of a biased and broken system where the Commission serves as accuser, judge, jury, and then appellate judge all in the same case,” Intuit stated. The California company later added that it believes it will prevail “when the matter ultimately returns to a neutral body.”

Monday’s opinion and final order upholds an initial decision from FTC chief administrative law judge D. Michael Chappell, who ruled that Intuit violated federal law by engaging in deceptive advertising back in September.

There was no financial penalty in the FTC’s order, but Intuit has previously faced hefty charges over the marketing of “free” services. In a 2022 settlement signed by the attorneys general of all 50 states, Intuit agreed to suspend TurboTax’s “free, free, free” ad campaign and pay $141 million in restitution to nearly 4.4 million taxpayers nationwide.

Settlement checks were sent out last year. Those impacted were low-income consumers eligible for free, federally-supported tax services — but paid TurboTax to file their federal returns due to “predatory and deceptive marketing,” New York Attorney General Letitia James said.

EBay said Tuesday that it plans to lay off 9% of the company’s workforce, equal to about 1,000 full-time jobs, as the tech industry continues to downsize to start 2024. The stock rose more than 3% in extended trading.

Jamie Iannone, eBay’s CEO, told employees in a letter published on a corporate blog, that the company will also “scale back the number of contracts we have within our alternate workforce over the coming months.”

Iannone said the job cuts are necessary because eBay’s “overall headcount and expenses have outpaced the growth of our business.”

“To address this, we’re implementing organizational changes that align and consolidate certain teams to improve the end-to-end experience, and better meet the needs of our customers around the world,” Iannone said. “Shortly, we will begin notifying those employees whose roles have been eliminated and entering into a consultation process in areas where required.”

Following hefty job cuts last year, tech companies have continued to eliminate positions in January as concerns about consumer and business spending persist. Amazon, Alphabet and Unity have confirmed cuts this month, and SAP said on Tuesday that it aims to carry out voluntary buyouts or enable job changes for 8,000 employees as part of a restructuring program for 2024.

Regarding eBay’s cuts, Iannone said he wants employees to work from home on Jan. 24, “to provide some space and privacy for these conversations.”

“These changes are difficult, but I’m confident that by working together we will become stronger than ever,” Iannone said. “In the months ahead, you will see a more focused, agile, and responsive eBay — one that is better positioned to advance our purpose of creating economic opportunity for all.”

EBay shares dropped about 4% in November after the company provided fourth-quarter revenue guidance that trailed Wall Street estimates. During a call with analysts, Iannone said that eBay had “observed softening consumer trends to date in Q4, and particular challenges in Europe, suggesting we may see a more muted seasonal uptick over the holidays.”

He added that “Inflationary pressures and rising interest rates continue to weigh on consumer confidence and pressured demand for discretionary goods.”

Earlier in January, eBay said it would pay a $3 million criminal penalty as part of a settlement related to a cyberstalking and harassment campaign conducted by a group by former employees.

The San Francisco 49ers have seen what not having wide receiver Deebo Samuel does to their offense. And they hope history doesn’t repeat itself in Sunday’s NFC championship game.

Samuel suffered a shoulder injury in the first half of last week’s 24-21 win over Green Bay and didn’t return. He’s listed as questionable to play this week against the Detroit Lions (6:30 p.m. ET, Fox) with a spot in Super Bowl 58 going to the winner.

In the three games Samuel missed during the regular season (two full games and the one in which he was hurt in the first quarter), the Niners lost all three and scored exactly 17 points in each − their lowest point total of the season.

Here’s what we know about Samuel’s recovery and status for the playoff matchup:

Will Deebo Samuel play vs. Lions?

NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.

He does have the benefit of an extra day of rest since the top-seeded Niners’ playoff opener was last Saturday (while the Lions played on Sunday).

Samuel’s participation level in practice the rest of the week should provide an indication of how likely it is he’ll suit up.

What was Deebo Samuel’s injury?

Samuel left Saturday’s game early against Green Bay with what was diagnosed as a head injury, but he was cleared to return. Shortly afterward, he came out of the game for good with a shoulder injury — the same ailment that caused him to miss time earlier in the season.

‘He tried to come back but couldn’t do it,’ San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters after the gme.

Shanahan said Monday that Samuel did not suffer a fracture in his left shoulder, but he is still in pain.

Deebo Samuel’s stats for 2023 season

In 15 regular-season games, Deebo Samuel caught 60 passes for 892 yards and seven touchdowns. He also ran the ball 37 times for 225 yards (6.1 per carry) and five touchdowns.

He caught two passes for 24 yards against Green Bay in the Niners’ playoff opener last Saturday.

Who is Deebo Samuel’s backup?

With Samuel sidelined, wide receiver Juwan Jennings stepped up for the Niners vs. Green Bay, with a team-leading five receptions for 61 yards. That came after Jennings missed the final three regular season games with a concussion.

Jennings will likely see an increased workload against the Lions opposite Brandon Aiyuk, with Chris Conley, Ronnie Bell and Ray-Ray McCloud also in the receiving mix.

After a tumultuous week that involved canceling games, the TCU women’s basketball team will be back on the court Tuesday with a revamped roster.

On Wednesday, the Horned Frogs announced they were canceling their ranked matchups against Kansas State and Iowa State because the team didn’t have enough players to compete. TCU began the season 14-0, but had been on a four-game losing streak as injuries began to pile up for the squad. As a result, the games against the Wildcats and Cyclones were canceled, and team tryouts were held to add players to the roster.

Now, four new players have joined the Horned Frogs roster, three of which were high school stars, and one player that is now a dual-sport athlete for the school.

TCU women’s basketball new players

TCU first made additions to the roster on Sunday when it announced sophomore volleyball player Sarah Sylvester was joining the team. Sylvester helped the Horned Frogs volleyball team reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2022 and 2023, and she had played basketball in high school in Michigan.

On Tuesday, TCU rounded up its new roster with the addition of three players from the open tryouts, all of which were major players in the high school ranks.

Piper Davis: Freshman guard who led Timberline High School in Idaho to a state championship in 2022, and compete in the state’s all-star game in 2023.Ella Hamlin: Freshman guard who scored more than 1,500 career points at Grandbury High School in Texas. She was named district offensive player of the year in 2022 and 2023.Mekhayia Moore: Sophomore guard Brownsboro High School in Texas to a state championship in 2022, as she was named state championship MVP.

What happened to TCU women’s basketball team?

After the news of the canceled games was released, TCU issued a statement acknowledging the forfeiture of the games, citing the reason for the cancellations was ‘a result of injuries within the TCU program and ensure the health and safety of the program’s student-athletes.’

In a TikTok video, senior center Sedona Prince explained she ‘shattered her ring finger’ against Baylor on Jan. 3, sidelining her for seven weeks. In the Jan. 13 matchup at Houston, starting guard Jaden Owens suffered a torn ACL and meniscus, ending her season and college career. The next day, center DaiJa Turner announced she underwent season-ending surgery on her left ankle.

Prince also said four other unnamed players couldn’t play because of injury, and another left the team to deal with family matters, resulting in only six players available to play before the new additions.

TCU will host UCF on Tuesday night in its return to the court.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will be without Tristan Thompson for roughly the next two months.

Thompson has been suspended 25 games by the NBA for violating the league’s NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program. He tested positive for ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033, both of which are considered performance enhancers, according to a league statement.

Thompson’s suspension will begin with Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks. He’ll be eligible to return from the suspension for the Cavs’ March 16 game against the Houston Rockets.

This past offseason, Thompson signed a one-year deal with the Cavs worth just north of $3.1 million. Off the bench, he’s averaged 3.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in 12.4 minutes per game.

What is ibutamoren? Tristan Thompson suspended for violation

Ibutamoren is a potent, orally-active drug that helps to increase growth hormone production. It’s often used as a regenerative medicine for adults struggling with age-related medical conditions. It’s noted by the World Anti-Doping Agency as a dangerous chemical substance.

What is SARM LGD-4033?

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — The Las Vegas Raiders hired Tom Telesco on Tuesday as their next general manager, passing over interim Champ Kelly for the position.

Kelly could remain as the assistant general manager, the position he held under Dave Ziegler, who was fired Oct. 31. Kelly then was given the interim title and was believed to be a strong candidate to get the job full time.

Telesco, 51, comes from the AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers, where he was the general manager since 2013. The Chargers fired Telesco and coach Brandon Staley on Dec. 15, a day after Los Angeles lost 63-21 at Las Vegas.

Telesco drafted eight Pro Bowl players, including quarterback Justin Herbert, wide receiver Keenan Allen and defensive end Joey Bosa. But the Chargers went 86-95 during his tenure, making the playoffs three times and never winning a divisional title.

He hired three first-year coaches, so going to the Raiders will be familiar in that way for Telesco. Antonio Pierce had the interim title removed Friday, making him the full-time coach.

NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.

Telesco’s top priority will be deciding what to do at quarterback. Rookie Aidan O’Connell became the starter when Pierce took over, and though he led the Raiders to a 5-4 record over that time, his inconsistency created real doubts that he was the franchise quarterback.

The Raiders pick 13th in this year’s draft, which likely puts them outside the range of getting a top quarterback unless they trade up. Las Vegas also could stay put and perhaps select Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. if he’s still on the draft board.
