The United States has temporarily paused ‘additional’ funding for a key United Nations agency in the Gaza Strip over allegations that some of its members were ‘involved’ in the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack in Israel.

‘UNRWA can read the Beltway press well enough to know that Congress is moving to cut off U.S. funding,’ Richard Goldberg, former National Security Council (NSC) advisor during the Trump Administration, told Fox News Digital.

‘This is a PR move designed to preempt congressional action. It does nothing to change the fact that UNRWA is complicit in Hamas war crimes and remains a key obstacle to peace,’ Goldberg, currently a senior advisor at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, added.

Twelve United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees in the Near East employees were allegedly ‘involved’ in the attack, and the U.S. funding will resume subject to an investigation from the United Nations.

UNRWA, citing information provided by Israeli authorities, terminated the contract with the accused employees on Friday and announced an investigation ‘to protect the agency’s ability to deliver humanitarian assistance’ and ‘establish the truth without delay,’ Reuters reported.

The U.S. State Department in a press release said that Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres regarding the investigation, which will be ‘comprehensive and independent.’ The U.S. insisted that it must see ‘complete accountability for anyone who participated in the heinous attacks of Oct. 7.’

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant praised the U.S. decision as ‘an important step in holding UNRWA accountable.’

‘At least a dozen UNRWA employees participated in the horrific attack conducted on Oct. 7: These are ‘humanitarian workers,’ with salaries paid for by international donations, with blood on their hands,’ Gallant said in a press release following the State Department’s announcement.

‘Major changes need to take place so that international efforts, funds, and humanitarian initiatives don’t fuel Hamas terrorism and the murder of Israelis,’ Gallant wrote. ‘Terrorism under the guise of humanitarian work is a disgrace to the U.N. and the principles it claims to represent.’

The decision follows growing allegations that started in Dec. 2023 when an Israeli citizen taken hostage by Hamas said upon release that they had remained captive in the attic of a UNRWA teacher. Another hostage claimed that a Gazan doctor – allegedly a pediatrician – helped hold another hostage captive for Hamas.

UNRWA pushed back on the claim, calling it ‘unsubstantiated’ after the Israeli journalist did not immediately respond to their requests for additional information, saying in an official statement, ‘UNRWA and other entities in the United Nations have asked the journalist to provide more information on what we consider to be a very serious allegation. Despite repeated demands, the journalist has not responded,’ it was claimed.

UNRWA has faced several allegations, including corruption and directly helping Hamas, as documented in an X community note. Reuters reported on a former headmaster at a UNRWA school who helped build rockets for Islamic Jihad while employed by the agency, as well as posts from several UNRWA teachers and administrators celebrating the Oct. 7 attack.

The State Department under former President Trump cut ties with UNRWA in 2018, but President Biden resumed the relationship shortly after taking office. He continued to improve spending for the organization, with funds exceeding $1 billion.

Blinken also visited UNRWA HQ in November following his visit to Jordan during a visit to the Middle East. During that visit he praised the organization’s humanitarian work in Gaza even as reports of UNRWA workers’ involvement in the Hamas attack swirled.

The House Foreign Affairs Committee announced around Christmas 2023 that it would launch its own investigation into UNRWA and the alleged ties to Hamas: Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., insisted that there was ‘extensive evidence of a troubling connection between UNRWA and Hamas, and it is far deeper than was known.’

Goldberg compared the recent decision to that of the Biden administration’s approach to the Iran assets following the Hamas attack, with many pressuring the White House to refreeze assets for Tehran due to its direct ties to the terrorist group.

‘This looks a lot like the administration’s response to outcries over the $6 billion for Iran after Oct. 7,’ Goldberg argued. ‘In the face of imminent legislation, the administration claimed it had frozen the money – but no law exists to enforce that temporary freeze.’

‘Here, too, I fear the administration wants to get ahead of Congress prohibiting the aid in law, only to turn the spigot on once the supplemental has passed,’ he said.

Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., confronted an anti-Israel protester in a Senate office building stairwell on Thursday afternoon, after the woman claimed Hamas was ‘legitimately’ voted in by the Palestinian people.

In a video posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, Tillis can be heard telling the protester ‘Hamas has caused this carnage, Hamas has to cease to represent the Palestinian people so we can save them and protect them.’

The unidentified protester, who a Tillis staffer said was with the feminist activist group Code Pink, can be heard that saying ‘Hamas were legitimately voted in’ in 2006.

Tillis fired back at the protester and said ‘they canceled future elections.’

‘They are dictators who have raped and murdered Israelis,’ Tillis said. ‘When the people of Palestine elect somebody in a free election, I’ll be arguing for a ceasefire.’

The unidentified Code Pink protester then said ‘Israel won’t let them have an election,’ to which Tillis shot back and said ‘Hamas will not let them have an election.’

‘No, it’s Israel, Israel is the occupier sir,’ she said.

One of Tillis’s aides who recorded the video told Fox News Digital the interaction occurred after a Senate, Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee meeting. The aide said the protester was waiting outside the room when the meeting ended and began following Tillis.

According to its website, Code Pink is ‘a feminist grassroots organization working to end U.S. warfare and imperialism, support peace and human rights initiatives, and redirect resources into healthcare, education, green jobs and other life-affirming programs.’

Code Pink told Fox News Digital ‘no comment,’ but referred to a statement on their website applauding ‘the decisive stance the International Court of Justice (ICJ) took in its preliminary ruling on South Africa v. Israel.’

‘The Court ordered Israel to cease all actions tantamount to genocide and to facilitate humanitarian aid to mitigate the unfolding humanitarian crisis urgently, which is a crucial step toward justice,’ the statement read.

Earlier this month, South Africa launched a case at the United Nations’ top court alleging that Israel’s military campaign in Gaza amounts to genocide.

The United Nations’ top court is set to rule Friday on a call for Israel to halt its military offensive in Gaza, when it issues a preliminary decision in a case accusing Israel of committing genocide in the tiny coastal enclave.

Top of the South African list is a request for the court to order Israel to ‘immediately suspend its military operations in and against Gaza.’ It is also asking for Israel to take ‘reasonable measures’ to prevent genocide and allow access for desperately needed aid.

EXCLUSIVE: Lawmakers’ frustrations over Congress’ new tax bill are forcing House GOP leaders to rely on Democrat votes to get it over the line next week, sources said.

House leadership released details for the bipartisan agreement from House and Senate negotiators earlier this week, which includes tax deductions to bolster American businesses as well as a temporary extension of the Child Tax Credit (CTC).

Three sources told Fox News Digital that they understand the bill will get a vote on the House floor next week. Normally, legislation will advance through the Rules Committee first and then get a procedural ‘rule’ vote on the House floor, almost always along party lines, before needing a simple majority to pass.

But the sources told Fox News Digital that Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and Ways & Means Chairman Jason Smith, R-Mo., aim to push it straight to the House floor under ‘suspension of the rules,’ bypassing procedural steps in exchange for raising the threshold for passage to two-thirds.

Republican hardliners weaponized the rule vote several times this session to bring down legislation by their own party in protest of House GOP leaders’ decisions. Johnson holds just a thin majority of 219 Republicans to 213 Democrats, so raising the threshold for passage of the bill, which is expected to be bipartisan anyway, means he’ll need at least 75 Democrats on board if the House is in full attendance.

‘From everything I can understand, the issue is that Freedom Caucus folks are going to essentially bring down any of the rules that we have in the near future, as long as the immigration situation is hanging out there, and the budget situation is hanging out there,’ a senior GOP aide said.

The Freedom Caucus has previously held up the House floor over disagreements on government funding and border policy, issues that are still very much under discussion.

It’s not just them, however – Republicans who represent the politically fickle suburbs outside major cities in New York, California and elsewhere are frustrated that the tax bill does not touch state and local tax (SALT) deductions.

Rep. Mike Garcia, R-Calif., who was part of a Thursday night meeting with Johnson and other Republicans concerned about the issue, said that lifting the $10,000 SALT deduction cap was critical to middle-class families. He also argued that it would be critical to deciding who holds the House next year.

‘The bill is not necessarily a bad bill. . . . I just think it’s asinine to not take advantage of this opportunity to address an issue that matters in districts that will determine who has the majority in the next Congress,’ Garcia said before the meeting.

Meanwhile, top members of the ultra-conservative Freedom Caucus told Fox News Digital that hardliners have their separate issues with the bill, namely arguing that the CTC can be claimed by illegal immigrants who have children in the United States.

‘The overall brand that the GOP right now is funding wars and tax cuts for corporations. I’m sorry. I was sent here to cut spending and to secure the border,’ Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, said.

‘Some of the tax policies I firmly support, but we should be making tax policy permanent, not these, like, temporary little additions. I think that’s a problem. And importantly, the child tax credits . . . going to children of people here illegally, and there not being real brakes on that possibility.’

Former Freedom Caucus Chairman Scott Perry, R-Pa., was blunter in his assessment: ‘I can’t imagine why we’re doing it, or why we’re attempting to do it. And it’s not improving a lot of the lives of the people that I represent, and so I’m very discouraged by it.’

He said that allowing the CTC to go to illegal immigrants ‘is absolutely something that should be a red line for every single Republican,’ and bypassing the rules to put the bill on the floor next week ‘should be a signal to everybody that you’re heading in the wrong direction.’

Chairman Smith pushed back against those accusations in a statement to Fox News Digital: ‘The Child Tax Credit reforms in this bill are pro-family policies that maintain the child tax credit structure of the Trump-era GOP tax reform. It halts any push for monthly checks and provides no special loopholes for illegal immigrants. In fact, the plan still requires a Social Security number for children, which was added in the 2017 GOP tax reform.’

‘The Child Tax Credit provisions in this bill help families crushed by inflation, removes the penalty for families with multiple children, and maintains work requirements,’ he said.

Garcia, who admitted he was still hopeful that something could be done on SALT deductions, confirmed that he had pressed Smith about the issue at another GOP lawmaker meeting last week. He pointed out the deduction caps were still expiring either way in 2025.

‘We can address this right now, on our terms, get a win out of it politically,’ Garcia said. ‘Or we can do nothing, lose potentially a lot of races because we passed this opportunity to address SALT, which is very important to New York and California, and then try to have a conversation about the new policies when . . . we’ve lost the majority because we passed this opportunity to help the swing district members get a win on the SALT cap.’

The bill was always likely to pass with bipartisan support, sailing out of committee on a 40-3 vote. But putting it up under suspension emphasizes the politically precarious position Johnson finds himself in while presiding over a razor-thin majority in one of the most divided GOP conferences in modern history.

Fox News Digital reached out to Johnson’s office for comment, as well as the offices of Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., and Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn., but did not immediately hear back.

Former President Donald Trump said Thursday that he does not support efforts to pressure the Republican National Committee into declaring him a ‘presumptive nominee.’

The former president made the remarks Thursday on his proprietary social media platform, Truth Social.

‘While I greatly appreciate the Republican National Committee (RNC) wanting to make me their PRESUMPTIVE NOMINEE, and while they have far more votes than necessary to do it, I feel, for the sake of PARTY UNITY, that they should NOT go forward with this plan, but that I should do it the ‘Old Fashioned’ way, and finish the process off AT THE BALLOT BOX,’ Trump wrote.

Trump’s statement pushes back on efforts led by a former aide of his campaign, David Bossie — an RNC committee member who has urged Republicans to rally around the former president despite the ongoing primary.

Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley is facing growing calls for her to leave the 2024 presidential race as the RNC nearly considered a resolution to declare Trump the party’s presumptive nominee.

The RNC was set to consider a resolution that, if approved, would have declared Trump to be the party’s presumptive nominee for president in 2024. Fox News Digital obtained a copy of the resolution on Thursday, but it was later withdrawn.

In a statement, RNC spokesperson Keith Schipper said, ‘Resolutions, such as this one, are brought forward by members of the RNC. Chairwoman McDaniel doesn’t offer resolutions. This will be taken up by the Resolutions Committee, and they will decide whether to send this resolution to be voted on by the 168 RNC members at our annual meeting next week.’

Haley’s campaign told Fox News Digital it was up to the millions of Republican voters across the country to decide who the party’s nominee will be, ‘not a bunch of Washington insiders.’

Trump trounced his rivals with convincing wins in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary this month, and experts agree there is likely little hope for Haley — the only alternative to the former president remaining in the race — in the upcoming South Carolina primary despite it being her home state.

Raheem Morris’ long-awaited second chance has apparently arrived.

The Atlanta Falcons are hiring the longtime NFL coach, most recently the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive coordinator, the team announced Thursday night.

The opportunity comes to Morris 13 years after his three-year run leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who hired him at the age of 32 in 2009. He went 17-31 in Tampa and did not reach the playoffs.

Morris, who’s admitted in retrospect he wasn’t quite ready for the Bucs job, has spent the last decade-plus preparing for another shot. He’s continued forging his long-held reputation as a leader whom players will go to the mat for. There’s also a familiarity factor as he served as Atlanta’s interim coach in 2020 after Dan Quinn was fired following an 0-5 start. The team went 4-7 with Morris the rest of the way.

After his ouster in Tampa Bay, Morris spent three years coaching the secondary in Washington. He then spent six years on Quinn’s staff in Atlanta – mostly on the offensive side of the ball working with receivers and coordinating the Matt Ryan-led passing game. In 2021, Morris reunited with Rams coach Sean McVay, whom he’d worked with in Washington, to run LA’s defense.

NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.

The moves comes as a bit of a surprise given how widely linked Falcons owner Arthur Blank, 81, was linked to former New England Patriots legend Bill Belichick, winner of six Super Bowls. Atlanta has never won a Lombardi Trophy in its 58 seasons.

But in a win on the league’s diversity front, Morris, who is Black, was hired on the same day that the division rival Carolina Panthers hired Mexican-American Dave Canales as their new head man. The NFL has long been criticized for the lack of minorities who occupy key leadership positions throughout the league, but this offseason has marked a possible turning point given the Patriots also promoted Jerod Mayo to succeed Belichick while the Las Vegas Raiders removed Antonio Pierce’s interim tag.

‘With 26 years of experience in the NFL, including the last three in an outstanding organization that has won our league’s championship in that time, Raheem emerged from a field of excellent candidates and is the right leader to take our team into the future,’ Falcons owner Arthur Blank said in a statement. ‘His time in LA has given him an enhanced perspective on everything from personnel, team operations, game planning, working with an outstanding offensive staff and many other things that has helped him develop into an even more prepared coach in all aspects of the game.’

Morris will assume a post vacated following the firing of Arthur Smith, who finished 7-10 in all three of his seasons. General manager Terry Fontenot, who has assembled what appears to be a formidable roster that underachieved last season under Smith despite the team’s membership in the eminently winnable NFC South, remains in his role. An 11th-ranked defense is anchored by Pro Bowl safety Jessie Bates III, cornerback A.J. Terrell and lineman David Onyemata. However the offense – loaded with first-rounders like receiver Drake London, tight end Kyle Pitts and tailback Bijan Robinson, who play with a very formidable line – appears to be the sleeping giant.

Of course, the glaring issue for Morris and Fontenot to fix in 2024 will be at quarterback after the team opted not to pursue Lamar Jackson last year or upgrade from its shaky combination of Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke.

The Falcons are scheduled to pick eighth in the first round of the 2024 draft and are projected to have roughly $25 million to spend in free agency.

Note: This story contains graphic descriptions of sexual abuse that may be offensive to some readers or painful to survivors of sexual assault.

A woman who worked for WWE and received a payout from the company has filed a lawsuit against WWE and Vince McMahon on Thursday that alleges the wrestling company’s founder took part in sex trafficking and put her through sexual acts that were done with ‘extreme cruelty and degradation.’ WWE’s former head of talent relations John Laurinaitis is also named in the suit.

The news was first reported in The Wall Street Journal.

The lawsuit, filed in the state of Connecticut and obtained by USA TODAY Sports, details the experience of Janel Grant, a former employee at WWE’s headquarters. Grant said McMahon made her sign a non-disclosure agreement about their relationship for an agreed amount of $3 million. However, Grant didn’t receive full payment from McMahon, and wants to void the agreement with the lawsuit.

The lawsuit comes out nearly two years after reports McMahon paid upwards of $12 million to four women in a 16-year span to quiet allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity. The Wall Street Journal had also reported WWE was investigating a secret $3 million settlement to pay to an employee with whom he allegedly had an affair, after which McMahon retired as CEO and chairman of WWE. McMahon was subpoenaed by federal agents in August regarding the payments.

Vince McMahon told employee he ‘owns’ and ‘controls’ her

Grant was hired by WWE in 2019 after McMahon pushed for ‘a physical relationship in return for long-promised employment at WWE,’ according to the court documents. During her employment, Grant said she was forced into the sexual relationship, and McMahon would share explicit photos, videos and details of her to other WWE employees, as well as coerce her into having sexual relations with other WWE staffers, including Laurinaitis.

Examples of the sexual encounters are listed in the suit, including an instance of when McMahon and Laurinaitis sexually assaulted Grant at Laurinaitis’ office at WWE headquarters in Connecticut ‘while colleagues were busy at their desks.’ Grant had begged the two to stop, but they continued to assault her. The suit alleges McMahon also used sex toys named after WWE wrestlers on Grant and defecated on her during one encounter.

‘McMahon also subjected Grant to acts of extreme cruelty and degradation that caused Grant to disassociate and/or become numb to reality in order to survive the horrific encounters,’ the lawsuit states.

In May 2020, the lawsuit states McMahon began to recruit other men and force Grant into sex trafficking. Text messages allegedly from McMahon show he told Grant he’d ‘find more friends’ to take part in sexual encounters, and in another message, told Grant ‘i’m the only one who owns U and controls who I want to (expletive) U.’

McMahon also allegedly used Grant as an incentive for a WWE star to re-sign with the company, which included Grant sending photos and videos to the unnamed star. The star had wanted to meet with Grant and wanted to ‘set a play date,’ but a snowstorm changed the star’s plans.

Vince McMahon breached NDA, lawsuit states

In January 2022, the suit states McMahon told Grant his wife, Linda McMahon, found out about the relationship and he ‘wanted to ensure that Grant would remain silent about his personal misconduct in order to preserve his controlling interest in WWE.’ He advised Grant sign an NDA and would pay for her for it.

While the discussions of the NDA continued throughout the month, the suit alleges McMahon continued the abuse. The payment for the NDA was settled at $3 million, and once it was signed, Grant received a $1 million payment and she left the company in February 2022. A few days later, McMahon and Grant met and he ‘commanded’ her to do ‘one last thing’ by forcibly making her perform oral sex.

In March 2022, the same WWE star that had been in contact with Grant previously had reached out to her, and she sent explicit photos to the star ‘in line with McMahon’s orders.’ The two didn’t ever meet in person.

The lawsuit asks for a ruling that the NDA is invalid under state and federal law and McMahon breached the agreement by only paying $1 million of the agreed $3 million. The suit states Grant will prove in a trail she will need ‘lifelong treatment’ because of the ‘pain and suffering’ caused by McMahon.

McMahon currently serves as executive chairman of TKO Group Holdings, the company that owns WWE along with UFC. On Tuesday, when Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was appointed as a board member for the company, McMahon was present with other TKO executives and Johnson as he rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.

TKO Group Holdings, McMahon respond to lawsuit

‘Today’s complaint seeks to hold accountable two WWE executives who sexually assaulted and trafficked Plaintiff Janel Grant, as well as the organization that facilitated or turned a blind eye to the abuse and then swept it under the rug,’ Ann Callis, an attorney for Grant, said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports. ‘She is an incredibly private and courageous person who has suffered deeply at the hands of Mr. McMahon and Mr. Laurinaitis. Ms. Grant hopes that her lawsuit will prevent other women from being victimized. The organization is well aware of Mr. McMahon’s history of depraved behavior, and it’s time that they take responsibility for the misconduct of its leadership.’

A spokesperson for McMahon released the following statement:

‘This lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and a vindictive distortion of the truth. He will vigorously defend himself,’ the spokesperson said.

TKO Group Holdings said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports it will address the allegations internally.

“Mr. McMahon does not control TKO nor does he oversee the day-to-day operations of WWE. While this matter pre-dates our TKO executive team’s tenure at the company, we take Ms. Grant’s horrific allegations very seriously and are addressing this matter internally,’ the statement said.

Can Bryce Young join the ranks of Baker Mayfield and Russell Wilson?

The Carolina Panthers are planning to hire Dave Canales as their next head coach, the team announced Thursday.

Canales will fill the role previously held by Frank Reich, who was fired in November after the Panthers started 1-10. Special teams coach Chris Tabor was named interim head coach and the team went on to finish 2-15, which was the worst record in the league.

Canales has a Super Bowl ring and experience working with Mayfield, Wilson and Geno Smith. He also will be the only Latin American or Hispanic head coach in the league.

Who is the Panthers’ new head coach?

NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.

Dave Canales’ coaching history

Dave Canales comes to the Panthers after one season as the offensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He coached quarterback Baker Mayfield and wide receiver Mike Evans, helping lead the team to its third straight NFC South title and a trip to the divisional round of the playoffs.

Prior to that, Canales was a member of the Seattle Seahawks’ coaching staff for 13 seasons. He climbed the ranks from offensive quality control coach to quarterbacks coach and pass game coordinator where he worked with nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson and developed Geno Smith, who got his first Pro Bowl nod and a nice new deal in Canales’ last season with the Seahawks. He won Super Bowl 48 when Seattle blew out the Denver Broncos, 43-8.

Canales cut his chops in the college ranks, serving as an assistant coach at USC for one season and holding multiple positions at El Camino College in California. He developed a relationship with Pete Carroll, who he worked under at USC and then gave him his first NFL job, by working as a coach at Carroll’s camps.

He got his first coaching job at his alma mater, Carson High School, where he was head freshman/sophomore coach and offensive coordinator.

Dave Canales college

Dave Canales attended Azusa Pacific University outside of Pasadena, California, where he played wide receiver and received a degree in business administration.

Dave Canales family life

Dave Canales hails from Carson, California. He is married to his wife, Lizzy, who he met in college. The couple has four children together: Ashby, Benjamin, Beatrice and Amaya.

Canales’ paternal grandparents came to the United States from Mexico, per the sports magazine. His grandfather founded the church because he was injured in battle during World War II and made a promise to God that he would do so. The establishment began as a Spanish-speaking church with 15 people and now offers services in Spanish and English with a membership of 3,000 people.

According to the publication, Canales’ first job out of college was selling cowboy boots for a family friend, but his true passion was coaching.

‘The emotions, camaraderie and physicality — all combined — had me hooked from the beginning,’ Canales told the Buccaneers team website. ‘I wanted to give back and train athletes, especially football players. I wanted to give them the training that I did not have at my disposal early on.’

Dave Canales’ Mexican-American heritage

Dave Canales is Mexican-American and is now the only Latino or Hispanic head coach currently in the league after Ron Rivera was fired by the Washington Commanders earlier this month.

Last season, Canales was the only offensive coordinator of Hispanic or Latin American heritage.

‘As I look, I take a lot of pride in this as a Mexican-American,’ he said during the season.

There have been four other head coaches of Latin American descent in NFL history: Rivera, Brian Flores, and Hall of Famers Tom Fears and Tom Flores.

Unlike their first playoff game when they had to endure sub-zero temperatures against the Miami Dolphins, and had to rely on snow shovelers to clear the field before beating the Bills in Buffalo, the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs can look forward to a much cleaner forecast this weekend.

There is possible rain in the forecast as the Chiefs take on the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC championship game Sunday, seeking their fourth Super Bowl appearance in the past five years.

It is the first time the Ravens have hosted the conference championship after playing in Oakland (2000), Pittsburgh (2008), and New England (2011 and 2012), the previous four times they advanced this far. Baltimore’s last Super Bowl appearance was in 2013 when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers, 34-31.

What is the weather for the Chiefs-Ravens game?

Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. The high temperature is expected to be around 44 degrees, with a 94% chance of rain, which is expected to last the duration of the game. The winds will be out of the northeast at 10-15 miles per hour, likely to have some effect on the kicking or throwing game.

NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.

During their 34-10 victory over the Houston Texans in the AFC divisional round, temperatures were below freezing, with temperatures at kickoff hovering around 27 degrees, and the wind gusting up to 30 mph.

How Chiefs fared in rain in 2023

How Ravens fared in rain in 2023

Baltimore also played two regular-season games in rain in 2023, both at home, according to the NFL Weather website. The first was Sept. 24 against the Colts, a game the Ravens lost 22-19 in overtime for their first loss of the season. Lamar Jackson passed for 202 yards, but he had 101 rushing yards and two rushing TDs. The second game was the regular-season finale against the Steelers. The Ravens lost that game, too, 17-10, but they rested Lamar Jackson and most of their starters in preparation of the playoffs.

The San Francisco 49ers have seen what not having wide receiver Deebo Samuel does to their offense. And they hope history doesn’t repeat itself in Sunday’s NFC championship game.

Samuel suffered a shoulder injury in the first half of last week’s 24-21 win over Green Bay and didn’t return. He’s listed as questionable to play this week against the Detroit Lions (6:30 p.m. ET, Fox) with a spot in Super Bowl 58 going to the winner, though coach Kyle Shanahan said Thursday that Samuel was able to take part in some of practice.

In the three games Samuel missed during the regular season (two full games and the one in which he was hurt in the first quarter), the Niners lost all three and scored exactly 17 points in each − their lowest point total of the season.

Here’s what we know about Samuel’s recovery and status for the playoff matchup:

Will Deebo Samuel play vs. Lions?

NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.

Asked if that means he’s feeling better, Shanahan said, ‘Enough to be limited.’

Samuel does have the benefit of an extra day of rest since the top-seeded Niners’ playoff opener was last Saturday (while the Lions played on Sunday).

Samuel’s participation level in practice the rest of the week should provide an indication of how likely it is he’ll suit up. The Niners have practice again Friday.

What was Deebo Samuel’s injury?

Samuel left Saturday’s game early against Green Bay with what was diagnosed as a head injury, but he was cleared to return. Shortly afterward, he came out of the game for good with a shoulder injury – the same ailment that caused him to miss time earlier in the season.

‘He tried to come back but couldn’t do it,’ Shanahan told reporters after the game.

Shanahan said Monday that Samuel did not suffer a fracture in his left shoulder, but he is still in pain.

Deebo Samuel’s stats for 2023 season

In 15 regular-season games, Deebo Samuel caught 60 passes for 892 yards and seven touchdowns. He also ran the ball 37 times for 225 yards (6.1 per carry) and five touchdowns.

He caught two passes for 24 yards against Green Bay in the Niners’ playoff opener last Saturday.

Who is Deebo Samuel’s backup?

With Samuel sidelined, wide receiver Juwan Jennings stepped up for the Niners vs. Green Bay, with a team-leading five receptions for 61 yards. That came after Jennings missed the final three regular season games with a concussion.

Jennings will likely see an increased workload against the Lions opposite Brandon Aiyuk, with Chris Conley, Ronnie Bell and Ray-Ray McCloud also in the receiving mix.

Former LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte has been arrested and charged with two counts relating to alleged illegal sports betting while he was still with the Tigers, including several wagers placed on his own team’s games.

According to a release by Louisiana State Police on Thursday, Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division investigators in July 2023 were contacted by an online gambling company in relation to sports wagers made by a prohibited person: Boutte, who at the time he was alleged to have made the wagers was not yet of legal betting age.

Investigators alleged Boutte participated in sports gambling from April 2022 through May 2023, at which time he was 20 years old. He is alleged to have used an alias to circumvent the legal age requirements in the state of Louisiana. Boutte left the program after the 2022 season to enter the 2023 NFL draft, where he was a sixth-round selection.
