With LSU eliminated from the women’s NCAA Tournament, star forward Angel Reese will look to take her game to the next level.

Reese, who led the Lady Tigers to last year’s NCAA title and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, has officially decided to enter the WNBA draft. She made her announcement Wednesday through a story in Vogue Magazine.

It’s been a tumultuous two seasons for Reese in Baton Rouge. She experienced the highs of winning it all a year ago and becoming a national phenomenon with her ‘Bayou Barbie’ persona. But that came with a personal cost – as she and other LSU players revealed in the wake of the Tigers’ Elite Eight exit.

‘I haven’t known a day of peace since (the national championship). And it sucks,’ Reese reiterated after LSU’s 94-87 loss to top-seeded Iowa. ‘But I still wouldn’t change. I wouldn’t change anything.’

Reese, a junior, was a first-team All-American this season, averaging 18.6 points and 13.4 rebounds per game.

Southern California freshman Bronny James, the son of NBA great LeBron James, is not in the NCAA transfer portal and no decision has been made about where the younger James will play next season.

Amid reports that Bronny planned to enter the transfer portal and explore options for his sophomore season, James addressed the issue after the Los Angeles Lakers’ 128-111 victory against Toronto.

‘Bronny’s his own man, and he has some tough decisions to make,’ James said. ‘When he’s ready to make those decisions he’ll let us all know, but as his family we’re going to support whatever he does.’

A person familiar with the situation said no decision has been made about Bronny’s next steps. The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the situation.

James could return to Southern California, transfer to another school or enter the NBA draft.

Head coach Andy Enfield just left the Trojans for the same job at SMU, making the situation murkier for Trojans basketball players.

Bronny averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists and shot 36.6% from the field and 26.7% on 3-pointers in 25 games. James sustained a life-threatening sudden cardiac arrest in July while working out on the USC campus. He was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect and cleared to return to full basketball activities in late November.

The greatest week in WWE has arrived.

WWE’s flagship event, WrestleMania 40, is days away from taking place and its shaping up to be one of the biggest events in WrestleMania history.

So far, 13 matches have been announced seven of which are for championships. Headliners for the weekend include the highly-anticipated return of The Rock, who will be competing in a match for the first time in eight years, and the rematch between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

There’s still time for matches to be added, but here’s what to know about WrestleMania 40 with it just a few days away:

When is WrestleMania 40?

WrestleMania 40 is on April 6 and 7. The event has become a two-day spectacle since WrestleMania 36 in 2020.

What to know about The Rock at WrestleMania 40

The main event of WrestleMania 40 will be a rematch of last year’s title match between Reigns and Rhodes. Rhodes won the opportunity to face Reigns after he won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble match.

But the twist comes courtesy of The Rock’s return to WWE. He inserted himself into facing Reigns at WrestleMania instead of Rhodes, much to the disapproval of Rhodes. This led to a faceoff at the WrestleMania 40 kickoff in Las Vegas in February, which ended with The Rock slapping Rhodes. After Rollins came to the defense of Rhodes, a tag team match between The Rock and Reigns vs. Rhodes and Rollins was proposed and later accepted.

The tag match will have a stipulation that affects the title match on night two. If Rhodes and Rollins win, The Rock and the Bloodline will be barred from being ringside during the match between Reigns and Rhodes for the. If The Rock and Reigns win, then it will be Bloodline rules − basically a no disqualification match − which means The Rock will do ‘everything’ to make sure Rhodes doesn’t win the title.

When it comes to preparing to face three of WWE’s top superstars at WrestleMania 40, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins is embracing the physical and mental challenge.

He and Cody Rhodes will have one of the most unique – and perhaps biggest – weekends in WWE history when the two face Roman Reigns and The Rock on night one of WrestleMania before each star competes in their own title match the following night; for Rollins, it’s defending his title against Drew McIntyre on night two.

But that shouldn’t be an issue for someone already giving himself a bold title: “The new Mr. WrestleMania.”

“Nothing against Shawn Michaels. He’s incredible, the original Mr. WrestleMania,” Rollins told USA TODAY Sports. “But for my generation, you’re looking at my track record, nobody can touch it.”

Rollins gave full insight into how he’s approaching WWE’s grandest event as the company announced its first official energy drink of WWE, C4 Ultimate Energy, which will partner with WWE for its multi-day talent tryout as part of WrestleMania week.

It’s typical for WWE stars to compete on consecutive days with their full-year schedules, with live shows throughout the week in addition to “Monday Night Raw” and “Friday Night Smackdown.” But it’s not often you compete in high-profile matches back-to-back nights on WWE’s grandest stage.

Rollins knows it, but he isn’t shying away from his excitement. He noted this is exactly what he’s been training for in his decade-plus career in the company.

“These matches at WrestleMania, they’re not like anything else you’re ever gonna see. This is special, it takes its toll on you,” he said. “If anybody on planet Earth is prepared to perform two nights in a row on the grandest stage, it is moi.”

Seth Rollins on facing The Rock

What benefits Rollins during WrestleMania weekend is the familiarity he has with two of his opponents. He of course came up with Reigns as part of The Shield in 2012 and they have had several bouts since, while he’s competed with McIntyre several times in the past year.

But the one “wildcard” is the new TKO Group board member, Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson.

“Anything could happen out there and I gotta be prepared for that,” Rollins said of The Rock.

To be fair, The Rock is a wildcard for most of the WWE Universe despite being a company icon since way before he made the jump to Hollywood. While he looks more than in physical shape, it is unknown how he’ll do in his return to the ring. Technically, The Rock’s last WWE match was a six-second match against Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32 in 2016, but before that, it was the WrestleMania 29 match against John Cena in 2013.

Eleven years sure is a long time away from competing in a main event match.

“This is not the same dude that was in a WWE ring 10 years ago, 20 years ago. This is a different animal,” Rollins said.

Because of the time off and him being 51-years-old, jokes have been made online about his ability to hold up for the match.

Even with the lengthy time away, Rollins isn’t treating The Rock as a washed up performer. Rollins calls him an “incredible specimen” that is in great shape, and you can’t overlook what he’s capable of doing.

“I’m not going to underestimate him. I’m going to do whatever I can to make sure and treat him like he’s the biggest star possible,” Rollins said. ‘I’m ready for him to be in 100% shape. I’m going to be ready for him to be the very best version of The Rock.

“That’s the guy that I want at WrestleMania.”

WrestleMania 40 gear

Since WrestleMania is the biggest stage in WWE, stars will go all-out with extravagant outfits to go with elaborate entrances. Rollins is no exception.

At WrestleMania 39 last year, Rollins had a conductor to lead the crowd in singing his entrance music before he appeared in an elegant, pink, puffy robe complete with pink pants. This time around, two matches in two nights presents a new opportunity for Rollins to break out wild gear.

Rollins confirmed he will have different gear for Saturday and Sunday, but didn’t give exact details as to what it will be. His said his outfit for his WWE World Heavyweight Championship match against Drew McIntyre will be a “pretty special thing.” His reasoning for putting extra emphasis on his title match is because of all the work he’s done to make the championship prestigious.

“You’re going to get cool stuff both nights, but I think the World Heavyweight Championship match is going to have an extra little pizzazz to it,” he said.

Seth Rollins on C4 partnership

Rollins didn’t pass up a chance to badmouth former rival Logan Paul. The two may no longer compete in the ring, but they have a new business standoff comparing energy drinks.

Rollins called the C4 partnership ‘fitness and wrestling coming together,’ while bashing Prime, which also has a deal with WWE, as a ‘hydration gimmick.’

‘C4 has cornered the energy market here. Prime just trying to get a little toe in the water,’ he said. ‘They ain’t got a chance.”

The NCAA all-time scoring leader was named the Naismith National Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Clark, who led the nation in scoring (32.0 ppg), carried the Hawkeyes to their second straight Final Four berth after beating defending national champion LSU on Monday, scoring 41 points, including 9-of-20 from 3-point range, and adding 12 assists and seven rebounds.

Clark and Iowa will face No. 3 seed UConn in the second semifinal game Friday night in Cleveland.

Clark broke the women’s scoring record and all-time NCAA scoring record, capped by her passing Pete Maravich’s 54-year-old record of 3,667 career points in her final home game for the Hawkeyes.

Clark had previously won Big Ten tournament player of the year

For the third consecutive year, Clark was the Big Ten tournament’s most outstanding player. The feat matched Ohio State’s Jantel Lavender, who did the same for the Buckeyes from 2009-11.
